Stonehill has been added for 2026
That shortens the last slot to Louisiana, Jacksonville State, and Utah State as open and probably okay with going on the road.
I heard that the missing game on 2026 could be a second FCS game vs Saint Francis or anther team from FCS Northeast conference.
Anything but a 2nd FCS school, please. Considering only one of those counts toward bowl eligibility it's kinda pointless unless it's a last resort.
I have no idea if it will happen next year but at some point this or only 5 home games will happen. I doubt that we will use the check from UC to try to buy an FBS game.

Many MAC schools play 5 home games. Kent State does this practically every year. I doubt that we want to because OUr attendance is good and this would probably cause a drop in season ticket sales. It is the picking lesser of evils. We can keep demanding having the first home game in every home and home series we sign and kick the can down the road. But the department has to pick, 5 home games, 2 FCS games, spend a ton of money and buy an FCS game, or kick the can down the road and face the choice every year until you are out of options.

The following G5 schools are open at least one of the same dates that we are in 2026 and would probably be okay with going on the road based on what they already have: Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Jacksonville State, Temple, and Utah State. There are others that are open but are probably looking for a home game or would probably seek a P4 buy game.

Scheduling Morehead would be like scheduling Dayton.
Utah State, please. Need to exorcize the demons of our 5-0 loss in the early (?) 1990s sunammi.
Didn't we already do that when we won the Potato Bowl?
If you were at the 1990s game, you would agree that one win - even in a bowl - wasn't enough.
For your sake and all the others who endued that, let's get the Aggies on the schedule to properly exorcise that trauma.

I was there -- a downright miserable experience.

Scheduling a game against Louisiana (Ragin' Cajuns) at home sounds like the most ideal thing. If we schedule 2 FCS opponents next year, that would be a little disappointing tbh.
Louisiana actually has two open dates next year, according to FB Schedules.

Or we could just schedule Kent as a non-conference game. The ACC has been doing weird stuff like that lately.

Louisiana's open for September 12, so let's bring on the Ragin' Cajuns.
