I like this, even though we have no idea the competitiveness of even conference landscape when these games are played.

What's crazy is we STILL don't have any home OOC opponents on the books for next season.

Well, we did. UC cancelled our home end of a home and home. So now we can buy two FCS games or play 5 home games at some point. I'm sure that they are looking for the least painful way out.

Easy to pick up a home FCS game. And I’ve got $20 we don’t get Richmond in 2035.

Good FCS teams to schedule:

Morehead (not very far away)

North Alabama (they will need the $$ to build that new stadium)

Western Illinois (the return of Russ Eisenstein)

The following G5 schools are open at least one of the same dates that we are in 2026 and would probably be okay with going on the road based on what they already have: Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Jacksonville State, Temple, and Utah State. There are others that are open but are probably looking for a home game or would probably seek a P4 buy game.

Scheduling Morehead would be like scheduling Dayton.

We could do this, but it kicks the can down the road. At some point we need to deal with being committed to more future road games than home games.

Utah State, please. Need to exorcize the demons of our 5-0 loss in the early (?) 1990s sunammi.

Morehead???? Really? Do you realize they are a non-scholarship? Why in the world would we play a team that gives zero scholarships? They compete in the Pioneer league in football. You guys just keep dazzling people with your knowledge

Have we ever scheduled a home and away series this far apart? We might be in the same conference by 2035.

Based off current levels though, great home/away opponent for us.

That shortens the last slot to Louisiana, Jacksonville State, and Utah State as open and probably okay with going on the road.

Are there any SEC schools that still need to drop an OOC for next year to get to 9-game conf. schedule? Perhaps there will be opponent to pick up.

I'd love to renew the rivalry with Temple. Frank owned them. The only downside is that that poster OwlPoop (or whatever the name was) might appear on BA once again.

I heard that the missing game on 2026 could be a second FCS game vs Saint Francis or anther team from FCS Northeast conference.

Why not a 1 for 1 with Boise State or another PAC-12 program? They will need creative scheduling in 2026 and the next few years with only 7 conference games.

The date 9/12 for 2026.

Boise St H-Memphis
Colorado St H-Southern Utah
Fresno St H-Sacramento St
Utah St OPEN
San Diego St A-UCLA
Oregon St H-Texas Tech
Washington St A-Kansas St
Texas St H-UTSA

Utah St is open that day. CSU and Fresno have movable opponents. They are all going to need a 5th non-conference game and none of them have that yet. The MAC could allow Ohio to play a MAC game 9/12 and move a 4th non-conferencce game into later in the season.

That's true too. Kent State is the only MAC school open on 9/12. In fact, they have only ONE non-con game accounted for. UMass has five and would need to drop one. On 9/12 they are hosting Sacred Heart but the other four dates are away at FBS schools.

Anything but a 2nd FCS school, please. Considering only one of those counts toward bowl eligibility it's kinda pointless unless it's a last resort.

Didn't we already do that when we won the Potato Bowl?

Scheduling a game against Louisiana (Ragin' Cajuns) at home sounds like the most ideal thing. If we schedule 2 FCS opponents next year, that would be a little disappointing tbh.

Literally never heard of Stonehill. They were 1-10 last season and 0-2 this year, with one of those losses being to their lone win in 2024 (Sacred Heart). Yikes.

Really hope we can find an FBS opponent for 9/12/26.

If you were at the 1990s game, you would agree that one win - even in a bowl - wasn't enough.
