Most recent board of trustees agenda offered detailed schedules for all pending capital projects, including 2 related to athletics:

1. Good news - LED banner installation in Peden and Convo to be finished by Oct. 9.

2. Bad news - new hand dryers for Convo currently scheduled for 2023.

Speaking of hand dryers, not sure if anyone else has seen these, but Austin's airport has the coolest faucet/hand dryer combo I've ever seen. It's all in one so you don't have to walk away from the sink and the water runoff goes right down the drain. TECHNOLOGY!

The biggest problem I have with all "modern" hand dryers, including these,is
that there's no way to dry your face.

It wasn't great, but with the old models you could rotate the nozzle to blow up.

Wouldn't it be great if this new AD could put together a new facility plan to make Ohio the #1 facility school in the MAC. We've had enough of these strategic plans centered around maintaining a high GPA for student athletes. The one thing I liked about Boeh was his facility plan of which I believe is complete at this point. OSU is always going to be the big dog in Ohio but this is a state that can support multiple Top 25 programs.

On the other hand, many of the newer ones have filters to remove the Urea from the air before blowing it on your hands.

and for that I am grateful!

The YMCA I went to for years did have the hand dryers that had rotating heads. Was handy in the winter to turn around to dry your hair after showering. I felt like they even had them in a row separate from the sink for that very purpose.

Any word on the completion of this project for Peden?

LED boards are installed, just put in a location that’s not practical and will not be used during games! They were installed and operational for the last game. Score one for planning.

I was talking about the handdryers in the Convo.

As for the Peden ribbon board....I saw it operating the night before the game but not during the game. What's up with that?

Along the metal fencing in the North End, basically eye level, when on they are in the QB’s eyes. They are about 8’ off the ground. And “where are they” would be an incorrect statement, it’s a singular board about 45 yds long.

If on during the game it’s in the eyes of the players.

I used to have that problem all the time in Akron when the Goodyear blimp flew over our field.

If you want to see the ribbon board (not on) before this Saturday, watch this video from WOUB about the game. You'll see it at various points. Looks like people can stand behind it/lean on it? Maybe there's a top for drinks or something? I would rather it was mounted to the Sook building as it would seem to be at a weird height for players and for kickers specifically.

Well, at least they are standing behind it, not in front of it. :-)

Wow, not a fan of its location.

Considering both of our main grandstands though are on one tier don't know where else would be best to put them. Most larger stadiums I see them look their best have upper level seating.

It looks like there would be space on the press box above/below the windows, but that would only be visible to half the stadium. There's no place that makes sense to put any on the non-press box side.

The only positive I can think of about this placement is maybe they thought it would fill in the end zone. To me it obstructs the view from the concessions pavilion over the see through fencing. Imagine what the architect who designed the band seating area when they lowered the field back in 2000 must be thinking if 20 years later it would be covered by all that signage.

This is the best they could come up with. This reeks of a Schaus move. SMH.

Yeah, totally ruins the experience for those wanting to hang there with children.
