Rourke was awesome.. Wideouts pretty darn good today too. Nice to see a few sacks.

Going to have to have this offense show up next week in Muncie!

I am glad we got the W, Rourke looked phenomenal. We have to get better at tackling and covering, our linebackers also need to see the ball and cover the QB on the read option. We should throw the ball more in the future, we have undersold Rourke. I thought Kaeem Caesar and Keye Thompson looked good for the defense, Conrad also played well. Go Cats

The D put together about 2:30 of really good football in the 3rd quarter (I think that's all Kent had in TOP) and one really good clutch play by Javon in the 4th quarter. The rest of the time looked a lot like the second half of the Louisiana and NIU games. They managed to rise up with a couple of key stops and pressure Crum.

When the opponent has a running QB somebody needs to shadow him. Once again this week there were too many times when their QB got big chunks of yards rushing when his receivers were covered. Nobody was accounting for him.

The offense really looked sharp, probably because our O line outweighed their D line. Rourke had time to throw and the WRs managed to hang onto the ball when they were wide open.

I think we had only one punt and didn't score on just two drives. Thanks to the offense, it's the first time this season we won even though giving up more than 20 points.

CBS's production was really bad. The camera work was awful and their replay screen was larger than the live action screen when they ran them simultaneously. I thought the announcers were good. But Home Depot supposedly sponsored the broadcast, but I don't remember seeing one Home Depot spot (I know that's nitpicking, but it seemed strange).

I see there are no stats for Dorsa or Hudson, so the defense may have been short a couple players. It's nice to see that Baker played a little. Interestingly, the leading tackler was Keye Thompson, with 10 (2 solo), and a half a sack.

Dorsa is injured and Thompson filled in, Thompson is good, he needs to temper his aggression and improve his instincts. He is a thumper, though

Dorsa was on sideline and not in uniform.

I like what little I've seen of Thompson. But who else has provided evidence that our linebacker future is bright?

Reminiscent of last year vs. Virginia.

In the second half the offense slowed its pace in an attempt, it would appear, to keep our defense off the field. The downside is that it seemed to have an negative effect on our momentum. I think if they can find their rhythm a few slow and methodical clock-devouring drives a game might be the key to our defensive woes. If those drives result in points and not punts, of course.

Two burning questions from yesterday:

Allison status? - I didn't see him go out (maybe I was headed for the Jackie O's tent). he was dressed on the sideline, helmet on, in the 2nd half. Anyone have better info? With good health, he's going to be a sledgehammer by years 3 and 4. I saw Ross depart for the locker room, very visibly upset. Feel bad for the guy, but obviously a chronic recurring injury.

Skunk? - I saw Arkley respond to a tweet about the varmit. I could smell him from my seat, believe it or not...I thought it was the dude sitting next to me until I saw the tweet!

Allison put the ball on the ground. Maybe he was pulled for that reason.

Ross looked like he hurt his wrist?

I'd like to see them treat Ross the same way they treated White, and move him to WR. Like White, he has speed, and like White, he's had a number of injuries trying to play RB. I think he's less likely to get hurt at WR.

So... was this intentional or just a squib that happened to find a helmet?

Whatever, it made ESPN's Funday Sunday clips, along with Joe Burrow's wardrobe malfunction when he was sacked.

Ross hurt his left shoulder. He had a brace on underneath his pads. I assume that is a re-occurring injury. Someone mentioned Wilbon being injured. He was on the sideline in a boot on his left foot. Dorsa was also not dressed.

Intentional, and he's done it twice before.

Call me a prude but IMO there was no purpose/strategy for this kick. It resulted in no score by OHIO and likely didn't keep Kent from doing anything before the half with the little time remaining. However, that kick could have caromed back over the attacking Bobcats heads and a speedy Kent guy could have potentially picked it off in the air and who knows what the results may have been.

Now if he'd have kicked it last weekend against NIU after knotting the score late and had kept NIU from getting the ball and kicking the game winner then it would have been worth a gamble and would have had that element of surprise.

That's really why I was wondering myself. I remember pulling that off against virginia last year, but the timing here didn't make much sense. I guess it was low risk, but even lower reward (we only had 10 seconds to do anything and we were at least two big plays from fg range, but... if Kent recovers or, worse, fields it cleanly and advances it some, they are one play from fg range or perhaps already in it). This would have made tons more sense after a score in the second half or even in the first half. I love the creativity and surprise, but feels like a great play that we wasted in the wrong situation. Sort of like wasting the direct snap play last week on first and goal at the 1.

It is amazing how far Sean Lewis has brought the Kent program in 2 years. I love watching him coach - their sideline was very focused and he was teaching in every player interaction.

I would love to see him in Athens when Frank decides to retire. Won't happen, of course; I have a feeling Lewis will taste success next year and get a big offer.
