Tough game, Kent is good this year.

We need to beat up on the East. A path to the Title game is still there.

The rest of this season is gut check time.

From what I've seen of Kent, this is a coin toss. And if we lose, I'm gonna have to ask how a program like Kent can reinvent itself in 2 years while we're on a downward trajectory in year 15 of the Solich regime.

With the graduation of many key offensive players more from Rourke is needed, not by passing but by running. In this last game Rourke ran once during the 3rd Q, gained 12 yards, and we did not score any points, hum!
In order for us to win he needs to run more through out the game, all 4 quarters.

I don't know if you want to expose your best offensive player to that kind of punishment. He gets hurt, there goes our offensive production.

Get ready for perhaps the smallest Saturday crowd of the Solich era!

As mentioned before, I'll be bringing my 2 year old son to his first college football game and will be adhering to Ruck's advice as best I can. Driving in from Cincinnati so I'm hopeful we'll have enough time to get a bite to eat and shop at a bookstore beforehand. On that note, it's been a few years since I've been to one of our home games - is there anything in the way of food vendors or trucks in Tailgreat Park?

There are a couple options. The Bobcat Club has the Hospitality Tent set up outside the Convo. The food and the vendor changes weekly and they haven't announced for the upcoming game as of this morning. There are also food vendors/trucks outside the north entrance of Peden Stadium. Not exactly sure what types of food, but there are a few options there if you can't find someone to invite you for some free tailgate food.

Hopefully you are wrong about the crowd for the Kent game. Now is the time for Bobcat Fans to come out in force to support these kids and coaches! We are in a very competitive league with little difference between teams. If you don't enjoy watching very competitive college football, then stay away. If you do like to watch evenly matched teams go at it.....then we will see you on Saturday. Tailgate starts early!

Burrito Buggy now sits on South Green Drive in front of the stadium. University closes it off on game day.

Bobcat club tent was out of food 2 hours before the game last week. Then replenished with ONE TRAY and was out again for the entire 90 minutes before kickoff. Truly amateur operation.

Must win vs. Kent.

Period.

A loss here and Ohio would need all kinds of help to win the East.

An Ohio win ... and they're back in contention. Sad state of affairs in the East.

I'm not super confident in Ohio's abilty to win ...

But if they do, they're 2-1 in East with winnable games (on paper) vs BG & Akron. Another vs Miami at home.

That would get them to 5-3 with HUGE potholes at Ball and WMU still ahead.

It's been said ... the defense HAS to wake up and show something. The offense can't disappear for long stretches.

Kent has a pretty tough back half to schedule with Toledo, Miami, Buffalo, Ball & EMU. 3-2 is possible ... 2-3 more likely. So a win gives Ohio all important tiebreaker.

UB had manageable run with Akron, BG, Kent, CMU, EMU & Toledo. 4-2 is possible .... 3-3 likely. Ohio holds all important tiebreaker too.

Miami has NIU, Kent, Ohio, BG, Akron & Ball. 3-3 at best I'm thinking ... possible 4-2?

Regardless ... you kind of see my point. The East winner is looking more and more like a 5-3 team. Ohio HAS to win at home vs Miami and Kent to keep tiebreakers leaving them some wiggle vs West ...

Ohio has been victimized by tiebreaker last couple years. Lose this and it could happen again.

I'm incredibly disappointed and down on this season and program right now. But there is still some sliver of hope I'm hanging on to. But that is certainly on the line Saturday.

See you at TailGreat Park bright & early 😼😼😼

I believe we would be 2-0 in the East. Win vs. Buffalo. NIU is West.

Agree 100% doubledribble! Many fans gripe about the lack of Saturday games and the Ohio-Kent game is at noon with the early weather forecast in the 60's. This team is struggling, but needs your support. The MAC is very competitive and even though it is rated as one of the weakest conferences, most teams are evenly matched. All who follow Bobcat football were expecting a few more wins at the halfway mark, but it hasn't happened. Hopefully the Cats put four quarters together Saturday.

2-1 overall in the MAC ...

Sorry ... didn't mean to imply 2-1 within the East.

Basically saying they'd be 2-1 in the MAC, which would be good enough to put them into 1st place in the East Division with 5 games left in the MAC season ... essentially the drivers seat with tiebreakers over Kent and UB.

Obviously, it would fall on them to take care of business vs. Miami, BG and Akron ... but three more wins there gets them to 5-3 at worst ... and I think that would be good enough to win the god-awful East considering they'd have tiebreakers over the entire division.

I just don't see anyone in the East getting to 6-2 this season.

I know I basically wrote Ohio off last week in anger after that dreadful NIU loss ... but thanks to playing in the worst division in FBS .... they still have life.

Giddy up.

Kent State is a hard to team to figure out and the numbers don't really tell the whole story.

-They got crushed by three Power 5 foes by a combined scored of 133-23

-One of their wins came against an FCS - but Kennesaw State is really good this season. Probably has a chance to make a run in the FCS Playoffs.

-The other two were blowouts against Bowling Green and Akron, arguably two of the worst teams in the league preseason.

-QB Dustin Crum only has 874 yards passing (145 ypg), but is completing over 70% of his passes.

-Even with the three blowout losses, their defensive PPG allowed is just slightly worse (29.8) than Ohio's (29.5). The two blowout wins over MAC opponents helps.

I think we're gonna learn a lot more about both teams in this one. Which team is for real? If Ohio plays like it is capable (like we think) they should win rather comfortably. If Kent is starting to get on a roll, this could be another weird Kent State game of the Solich era that kills Ohio's MAC title chances.

Beating Kent at home has not been easy for Ohio in the Solich Era. Ohio is only 4-3 vs Kent at home over the past 15 years, and has needed three wins in the last four games to get that (although the last two were by a total of 75-3). The loss was a doozie -- 44-13 on national TV in 2013. Kent scored the last 34 points of the game including Nate Terhune's 61-yd TD run where he leaped over a defender. I think it was on a fake punt.

Before that there was a seven-point win in '11; a nine-point loss in '09; an eight-point loss in '07; and a three-point win in '05.

Pat Forde mentioned that Kent's Dustin Crim is among the last three 1A QBs with no INTs this season (in 115 pass attempts). He also mentioned that Ohio's D has just two INTs in 200 opponents' passes this season.

I've never understood this, OU/Athens has about 10 weekends throughout the year where it gets super busy. Yet it seems like they keep staffing at the normal level with the exception of maybe an extra bar back. You have all year to plan and these things really hurt the image to visitors and alumni

It was terrible at Marshall as well as far as I am concerned. Ran out of most food, not enough water or chairs. Oversold that one too

Just checked the Bobcat website and it looks like the crowd might be a little smaller than the Louisiana game. Section 103 was filled by this time that week, but still has a fair number of seats available. The rest look to be about the same. A lot depends on how many students show up (at least for the first half).

While I agree with this as it relates to staffing and preparation for the big weekends for football and hoops, I'll give Cromer a little time to adapt and improve on the things Schaus' group did.

Secondly, this isn't limited to just Ohio Athletics. The lack of preparation for parents/dads/sibs weekends in terms of staffing in bars and eating establishments could use some improvement as well.
