As I understand it, Bromley was developed by a NYC financier whose son had enrolled at OU. The father was astonished by the dearth of housing options and saw it as an investment opportunity. It was never a hotel; always a dorm and a successful one at that.
Tragically, his son was killed in an auto accident in/near Athens, and the father sold it to another investor, who renamed it The College Inn. It remained private until 2001 when the university purchased it.
