Pataskla: I like your idea of putting both QBs in the game at the same time. With each QB alone we are so one-dimensional. As you said, once CMU figured that out our offense sputtered.
If you do this, the Rogers pick up is the equivalent of Phil Bates. Comes in to provide a spark on offense but never asked to put the full load of the team on his back.

BTW how the heck do we get is name spelled wrong on our own jersey?

Same way our former AD bragged about new wall graphics in Peden Tower, sending out photo of a mural featuring the word "perseverance" ... misspelled.

Not saying either guy is the starter but these balls look pretty crisp working with the QB whisperer.

And that Shane Hooks red zone connection is going to be a show for the ages. Cant wait to see who is slinging it to him!
Not going to lie, it was painful to watch another Chip loss. Even with the loss, I still believe we have a shot.

Turnovers and kicking game definitely were the game killers. Back in the day, fumblers had to carry a ball to class and position teammates had to try to punch it out and bring it back to the stadium. Hopefully they are keeping up with that tradition.

As for kicking, I hope the walk-on door is open because my guy struggled last night. Not saying he can't overcome this but I hope he is being pushed.

Marlin Brooks was dearly missed last night. I think he could have been another x-factor in stopping Pimpleton in the motion routes vs man coverage.

As for offensive line, we might want to move Jackson inside put Amberguley on the left.

I would also recommend creating plays with 2.0 and Armoni in the game at the same time. We have to maximize their strengths in formations to give defensive coordinators an extra wrinkle....something else to think about at night.

As stated by a user above that our one-dimension philosophy with the QBs was adjusted to well by CMU. To be honest, it was their formula last year to get to the MACC so it was an easy adjustment for them. Throw that extra wrinkle in there, and pass/run becomes a little harder to dial in on.

Defense- stop trying to make the Madden hit-stick tackle with shoulder only. The best teams wrap up and if you can't make the solo...hold on for your teammate to clean up. Need to see 11 hats to the ball every play to grade out.

Overall, I like how they competed and I believe the mistakes can be corrected. Tough loss but if we don't create wrinkles I think we should go 3 plays each with the QB next game and then go with the got hand. If not start, Kurt is until Armoni is able to run the full playbook and not just limited plays.

Was the tackling that bad? I saw us either just in bad coverage or allowing too many people to get the ball with too much space. Also frustrating that we gave up 4 3rd and longs on the opening drive. After that our 3rd down performance was more respectable. Tackling division one athletes is hard. Doing so when they have time to juke/stop/accelerate is harder. As ugly a second half as that was, we still should have won that game. As ugly as that FG attempt was, Zervos missed plenty of FGs in the 40s. Also, without the penalty wasn't the first one good? I don't know because I was watching without sound. we had every opportunity to win that game and we missed every single one of them offensively.

Listen, it was hardly a bang-up performance defensively, but CMU's lone 2nd half TD came after we fumbled inside the 20, an all too familiar refrain from last season. we turn it over and we fail to get any ourselves. In spite of all the penalties and the inept 2nd half offense, we win this game without the fumble-rooskies.

You really believe that “ 3 PLAYS EACH with the QB next game”, will tell you who has the hot hand? You really think 3 plays is a good measure of the flow of a game? 🤦🏼‍♂️

Against Akron, we might have 42 pts on the board after six plays.

We could, so which would be hot in such a large sample size?

I'm not sure Akron will be a fair gauge of how good a player can be, no matter how many plays he might be in. Akron is a bad team, so a good performance is expected. The phrase "but it was Akron" will pop up. A bad performance, on the other hand....

Yes I do believe that. 3 maybe 4 series. And go with hot hand. Or incorporate them both in a formation.

You said “plays” not series. There is a pretty distinct difference in the two.
