The Padres, Dodgers and Giants are trying out special sections for fans that have gotten all their covid vaccinations. To get in, fans have to show that they've completed their vaccinations at least 14 days ago. If they're too young for vaccinations they have to show that they tested negative for covid within the last 72 hours. Once in, they have to wear masks but there's no distancing requirements even for people from different households. It'll be interesting to see whether it works. Could offer some hope for northern teams this fall. Southern schools don't seem to believe in covid restrictions so they'll do what they want anyway.

Once we are to the point that unused vaccines are sitting on the shelves (which seems to be now) , why not just open up? The vaccinated are protected and the anti-vaxers can assume their own risk

Masks and some social spacing are fine while numbers are still up, but what’s the point of dragging the pandemic out with Sub-50% occupancies once everyone who wants the vaccine, has one?

This is probably gonna sound overly technical.

I've posted before that my wife is a visiting nurse who has a number of covid patients.

What she's hearing from pretty much all of the infectious control doctors she works with, is that it seems covid is now "colonizing".So a positive test merely indicates that there's enough of covid to test positive. But, from from a medical standpoint, you're not "infected".

In NJ there have been what they call "breakthrough" infections, but they seem to be extremely rare.

As far as "everything is open", not in NJ.
Bars, stand alone or in restaurants, are still closed.

Other businesses have been allowed to open, but the capacity limits have been so severe, that a number of places, most notably restaurants, have either closed permanently, or have said they will have to stay closed, until they are allowed to operate at full capacity.

Plus the vaccine supply issue is not the same everywhere. While some places have unused doses sitting around, other places still can't get enough. Michigan, for example, is finally catching up after pushing the panic button a few weeks ago. But they're still one of the worst states for covid infections; 91,000 new cases in the past two weeks. And the J&J foul-up has put poorer communities in a jam. Most of the vaccination programs in low-income areas were using the J&J vaccine, so they've gotten behind over the past couple weeks.

In my wife's office, J&J was the only vaccine they could use for Home Bound patients.
Same with mobile vans for "underserved" areas.

The screw up at J&J's Baltimore Plant was bad enough.
NJ got a 96% drop in doses.

But it was better the 0.

During the "pause" The above services pretty had to completely shut down.

Last I saw, 26% of eligible Americans have been vaccinated. I'm all for opening up immediately as soon as we hit the point where everybody who wants a vaccine has one, but how do we determine when that point's been hit? 26% seems low to me.

Does that stat include children under the age of 16? The stat I saw was that more than half American adults were at least partially vaccinated and more than a third were fully vaccinated. That was more than a week ago.

What’s the end game if you’re not comfortable the vaccines work well enough? Hide indefinitely? Tell everyone else what they are allowed and not allowed to do? Just how many vaccinated people are dying from covid? Hospitalizations? Are there any documented covid deaths after someone was fully vaccinated? I was under the impression that those who were vaccinated only get mild covid cases if any? So, math shows 95% of vaccinated don’t get I covid at all, but what of the other 5%? Aren’t they just mild cases? Or are they dying too?

Yeah, that damn DeWine is such a liberal. I actually believe his actions followed the actual guidance set out by the Trump White House as well. Damn liberals!

The thing so many people fail to realize, and it's been true all along, si that their actions don't just affect themselves and others failing to do the right thing. They hurt innocent people who have tried to do everything right.

People who wore masks and socially distanced got sick and died because the virus became so rampant that it was unavoidable. Now, people's refusal to get the vaccine is causing all of this to drag out, which isn't fun for anyone, but even worse, it's allowing more time for variants to develop, increasing the chances that vaccinated people can get sick.

People is his own party are now publicly saying that, based on the number of people who are fully vaccinated, the number of new positive test results, rate of infections and reductions in hospitalizations, they don't know why he isn't fully opening things up in line with Conn.
Even NY now has less restrictions, with higher metrics.

People on the other side of the aisle are more blunt.
They say he loves the "power trip".

Monday he came out with allowing Socially Distanced dancing,with masks, for Proms and Weddings.
Own a night club or restaurant with a dance floor, no dancing, Socially Distanced or not.
Like covid knows the difference.
Its so ridiculous ,he's being called "Rev. Shaw" (Footloose)

This makes entirely way too much sense.
