I expect a similar outcome from the Louisiana game.

Hoping for more focus and discipline and that whatever that throne thing is was dumped in the bayou before heading back to Athens.

Just looked at the Northwestern weekly presser notes. I didn't see the word "Ohio" mentioned once by coach or players. Bulletin board material, or lack of respect (which we've earned)?

Coach talks about open competition for all eleven positions on both sides of the ball. I would say that the same should hold true for the coaching staff. It is really hard to imagine our team being able to hang with Northwestern.

I'll be watching and rooting as usual, and as Ernest Lawrence Thayer said in his famous baseball poem I'll have "that hope that springs eternal in the human breast." But, we all know what happened to Casey.

The spread is only 15, 5 less that the Louisiana game, HUM!
Northwestern is not the same team that we saw last year, NOT BY A LONG SHOT!
I want to be optimistic, but without forcing numerous turnovers our chances of a W is unlikely. Turnovers will have a very positive impact on the psyche of our boys and particularly our O.
I would also like to see more intensity with greater emotion, a sense of urgency!

It sounds like Armani Rogers could be the starter. A lot of talk of him playing more.

NWern has QB issues as well. Hunter Johnson had a lousy game vs Duke == 6/16 for 75 yds, 0 TDs, 3 INTs, a fumble on a sack, 2.2 QBR in less than a half. On the year he has a 17.1 QBR. Andrew Marty came in and went 11/16 for 151 yds and 2 TDs. A 26.2 QBR. He led the team on all four of their scoring drives.

Defensively they shut out Duke in the second half but sold out on the run early in the game to try and hold Mataeo Durant in check, but Duke burned them through the air and when they adjusted to that they were burned on the ground.

Did I miss something? We haven't played Northwestern since 08.

Not the last game of the year, but "Last game of the year Brent. Can't hold anything back now!"

I don't see the downside to giving him a go.

I think depending on how the start to MAC play goes, I’m gonna jump on the start CJ bandwagon. Time to plan for the future, and if you’re hesitant to say it’s Kurtis, it’s time to try what’s going to be left.

Doubling down on my bet from last week against Albin. I am very comfortable Northwestern is going to defeat us by a lot more than the spread.

Thanks coach A!

The practical side of me says we are going to lose this game based on our first three weeks of play. That said, in reality Northwestern is not that great this year. As a matter of fact if we show any type of pulse in this game I believe we could actually win it. Again, Northwestern is having a really down year and this game is certainly winnable. I guess I am saying all of this because I hope after the game we do not see the annual "well this is a P-5 team who we can't beat" argument on this Board. Sadly, I know some will try to explain away a loss to a bad team instead of acknowledging that our program is a joke.

Agreed. I'd say let Armani loose against NW, and if that doesn't go well immediately give CJ a try for the start of MAC play.

I guarantee you even if we lose big it won’t be as bad as Louisville. Not the overall experience anyway. The only thing worse than experiencing a good thumping in person is having it handed to you in miserable, sauna-like conditions. An added benefit would be you probably won’t have to sheepishly file by as many home fans as you leave. 70 degrees and mostly sunny for the Chicago area is forecast for Saturday. Sounds ideal other than some wind. Does Northernwestern have home games without wind? (NOTE: NW mis-identification was intentional due to them not using ‘Ohio’ when referencing us in one of their releases…referenced elsewhere on BA.). :)

After reading this a very nasty thought went through my mind. We could beat NW and then lose to Akron. Probably not! But, that would fit OHIO football history. I still remember Knorr's "Miracle Victory" over Kentucky in a lack-luster season. Could history repeat itself?

The UCF game can best be described as a "non-loss" rather than a win. We managed not to lose. We scored a 3rd quarter TD then gave up a 70-yd TD pass 13 seconds later. Had a chance to win in regulation but missed a 29-yd FG with no time left. Then won in OT only because UCF's kicker missed the extra point after their TD. That was a UCF team that was 0-9.

If Brooks Rossman could actually kick a football, OHIO beats Marshall and changes a couple other games.

Until he got to Kansas State and the football psychologist there did a little head shrinking!
