I just watched his press conference and I noticed 2 concerns that I felt compelled to comment on;

1) Coach looks and speaks like he is nervous
2) Coach talks too much with each question & repeats himself

Anyone agree?

Here we go again.
Coach Albin has always been Coach Albin. Nobody cares more about each of those Student-Athletes and it's a shame this is what some focus on.

He just needs some media training. There must be someone in university's marketing/comms organization who could be called in for some one-on-one work.

To be 100% honest with you, it’ll come with time. They’ll drop little tidbits and stuff to him, but it’s a comfort level of public speaking that he hasn’t had to deal with on a routine basis. If you think about it, this will be the first time a lot of these interviews will be in front of a camera/definitely not edited too. Not saying a public speaking class wouldn’t hurt, but until he’s comfortable in his new shoes and dealing with the media it won’t change.

Frank should have had the coordinators and top staff doing this. It can help everyone to be a better more confident speaker.

Been there, done that. It helps a lot, for some more than others for sure. It certainly wouldn’t hurt.

I have no idea how Coach Albin relates to the players which matters more than how we perceive his public speaking abilities. He is certainly a sharp contrast from his predecessor.

I have to say I like his enthusiasm and positive outlook. High energy and I like to hear the coachspeak . Lots of information which I find interesting regarding Rourke's reads and defensive alignments.
He is very likable. He seems very honest and genuine. You can see why the players like him.

Just a few things, like controlling head movement, making eye contact and pausing to collect thoughts before replying would make a huge difference.

Perhaps Nebraska put a lot of effort and energy into developing the public speaking of their coaching staff? Some are just more naturally gifted at it but everyone can improve with practice.

I'm more concerned with his coaching ability than his speaking style. In my fan career I've seen smooth-talking coaches who couldn't coach their way out of a wet paper sack, and I've seen guys who stumble over every other word and turned out to be excellent coaches on the field or court.

Refer to the one and only, Freddie Kitchens, for a fine example.

+1. But when the results on the field aren't there, the off-field shortcomings are magnified. As Crash Davis once said, when you win 20 in the majors fungus on your shower shoes means you're a character. But until then it means you're a slob.

+1 So you are saying that if we'd beaten Syracuse this thread wouldn't exist? That's possible, but I have my doubts.

Might've been less critical at least, but it'll probably take a winning season -- maybe a division title -- before people are resigned to the fact that it's just the way Albin is.

+1 We are on the same wavelength here. Yes, winning covers a multitude of sins as defined by the BA priesthood.

I’m just looking for offensive adjustments to fit personnel. I don’t care if he communicates in grunts and clicks.

He needs more than that...to admit he wasn't prepared for Cuse's leading rusher sets off alarm bells. If you are that unprepared, do not admit it in public...go back and rip the staff for missing the big picture. You'll know by mid October if he is a mistake or not. I tend to think he'll hit his stride and finish strong.

One thing I'm interested to learn: will Albin's success be judged in the same way Solich's was? In my mind, part of what Solich accomplished was to take a terrible program and add stability and some Keven of success, however low the ceiling. And largely because of his tenure, and because of who he is, he was allowed to play low quality out of conference schedules provided he continue qualifying for low level bowl games.

I suspect the expectations may be higher for Albin. I have a hard time seeing another coach stick for 15 years without a conference championship.

Smoothness matters in recruiting. That’s all I’ll say.

Some people are just meant to be assistant coaches. No crime in that. No crime at all. The question now is how far is the program going to be allowed to fall again until changes are made.

Goodness, why wasn’t he given an interim tag? Three years of this may make my eyes bleed.
