I am surprised that any of you are surprised at the lack of fan/booster attention paid by the Athletic department or OBC, whichever is in charge here. It was obvious before last year crashed that they didn’t even consider their fans and Saturday night was the clincher. Amateurish is the kindest thing that can be said about it. Arrogance also comes to mind.

If you had to put the blame on one person, who would it be?

Me and my wife don't drink anymore and i have to say that i liked college football more when there were limited to no alcohol sales inside. me and my wife went to the concessions stands under student section with about 20 minutes to go before kickoff. got 4 waters 2 pretzels and a bag of pop corn. were in our seats in section 103 before the national anthem was played. i went to bathroom early in second quarter got in line got two more waters. only missed about 4 minutes of game action.

Yes lines were long and yes there were not enough people there. i was more disappointed in the game day experience outside the stadium. and the field did look horrible.

The concession issue is atrocious. There has to be a better way. I was very disappointed to see the lack of vendors under the Sook Center. Hopefully there is more of an effort made to improve the situation and make some improvements in Peden’s appearance.

I really enjoyed my trip to Athens...let me tell you a few positives

The Quality Inn stay was fabulous...I booked super early and got a great rate. The staff keeps the place really clean. I highly recommend.

The town is really nice. Lots of character. We ate at Courtside Pizza on Friday. Not to sound like an old letch...but boy do the coeds dress differently than the late 70s/early 80s. The food was excellent for bar food and the alcohol prices were fairly cheap. Uptown is 2-3 blocks of a lot of fun. I'd love to go to school at Ohio if I were 18. I'm not an IPA (Hops) guy but my buddy got a Little Fish IPA and I took a sip and it was actually drinkable to me. He thought it was really good.

I took my friend to Menard's on Saturday morning...he is a convert. That store blows away HD and Lowes.

The stadium is cozy and has character. Not a fan of the scoreboard and lack of videos...but the band more than made up for it. Wow, they were fabulous. Syracuse's band is the JV compared to your band.

All in all, a great weekend. I'd love to do another series in the future. I hope to see some of you at Syracuse in a couple years.

Good luck the rest of the way...hope you can make Detroit.

Darn, I wish I had met this fellow on Saturday. His comments absolutely nailed it. Worked in food, beverage, attire or lack thereof, and shopping all in one post. The things you mentioned Mark are the reasons some of us came here in the aforementioned 70s and never left.

Whenever I’m back and buy friends a round of drinks, i walk away from the bar with a smile on my face thanks to the round costing half (or usually less than half) of what I’m expecting

I think this is a good day for everybody to take a big breath, hold it for just a moment, exhale slowly, and read this:

Don't expect it to be better this week.

Don't. Just don't. Do not.

Because you're only setting yourself up. Why would you do that to yourself?

The laundry list of disappointments ain't wrong. But there's a lot of other gameday stuff outside the stadium that wasn't right either. Lots of people and things that were supposed to be there weren't there. Extend that to Athens, your hometown, your homestate, your homecountry. It's effed up everywhere.

I don't have a lot of faith that it's ever going to get better, either. But come, join me in a grand experiment to discover the joy of low expectations!

One wild card in all of this - including my complaints - is the availability of workers. Someone told me last night that Big 10 teams are facing the same issue - no one is willing to work at the concession stands.

I would have begged for a periodic 4-hour paying gig back in the day.
Why on earth would anyone want to work for 4 hours @ $10/hr? At today's prices for anything - it's not worth it. Seriously, it's not.

Sorry, but pay a living wage to keep up with prices and you might get some employees.

Now that I have come partially out of retirement, I stopped at Jos A Banks at Easton to buy a couple pair of slacks. They don't open till 11 now because a shortage of workers. I asked the guy if I was 25 and applying today what would I make. His answer - $12 an hour. Low wages are a thing of the past. Folks aren't going to work for nothing any longer.

Even $12, while better than the minimum wage, is not a living wage. Employers are going to have to do better than that if they're going to solve the labor shortage, both in terms of salary and benefits.

Like I said, I am not sure whether the AD or OBC is more responsible for the game day experience.

Parse it out; if the End Zone is supposed to be a premium OBC haven then the experiences of those posting about it show that they failed miserably.

Inside the stadium, awful experience for all, overrun concessions, no video - NONE, the return of unintelligible audio. I am guessing this falls under the purview of the AD, as does the OBC, by the way. Blame always finds it’s way to the top.

As stated, none of this surprised me but to disrespect Frank the way that they did with a slipshod, hastily arranged, unannounced “tribute”? That was a shock. The AD SHOULD have taken care of that personally and, if she didn’t, shame on her.

If you want to complain about video, I'd direct that more towards university HR that anyone. I'd assume there's a lot of hoops athletics is having to jump through right now to replace one person let alone three. You can't expect a bunch of students that've never used 3/4 of the equipment to hop right in and not skip a beat.

I moved out of state about 6 years ago and haven’t been able to make it back to Peden since. From the comments posted throughout it sounds like the Game Day experience continues to be Groundhog Day. Power to be faces have changed but as they say the more things change the more they stay the same. The “tribute” to Frank is especially appalling. That man simply “earned” a better ceremony.

Now that the federal unemployment benefits have ended, we'll see what excuse all those blowhards who blamed unemployment compensation for the labor shortage will come up with next.

since enhanced unemployment ended i have hired 13 people out of about the 20 or so i needed. During the 6 months leading up to this i was lucky to receive a total of 13 applications.

Enhanced unemployment benefits wasn't all the problems But it certainly wasn't helping at all.

I wasn't there for it to comment, and I wasn't even the staunchest Frank supporter, but I totally agree. The significant mark he made on Ohio Football is unquestionable. It should have been yelled from the rooftops and made a huge deal out of -- UNLESS, he simply said he didn't want that and was firm about it. And that's something worthy of consideration.

It would not surprise me if he said asked for that, however I don't have real a feel for that in the way others here probably do.

Might be time to bring back the Green and White Club. $100 per family per year and maybe even split the pot too. I'm sure the local businesses would love to have a catering gig for 1000 people on a Saturday afternoon.
