"Ouellette" tends to be more French-Canadian than Cajun in its genealogy.

True, but the separation happened long enough ago that they are basically two different populations now. And the Ouellette name tends to show up more often in Quebec, whereas it is not as common in Louisiana.

I think we can find common ground here and all agree that both Quebecois and Cajun speakers are equally funny-sounding. Delightfully funny-sounding.

Kind of amazing... That list of 'tryout players'. Gives a good view of the odds of getting to the pros.

Yes, the list is 48 players, if I counted correctly. Of those, perhaps a couple will get to come back in the Fall.

Two, actually, Darnell Holland of Kennesaw State, and Devine Ozigbo of Nebraska both come to camp and already have UFA deals. Still, in the tryout, he will compete head to head with these two, and with James Madison of Idaho State. If he shows well, he could be signed, too. Here is the current projection for the New Orleans depth chart:
https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/NO

There is no reason that they could not go into fall camp with 6 RBs.

Here are the results of the mini camp. The saints signed 2 of the 48 who were trying out, but AJ was not one of them:

In many ways this was the hardest step. Only three of 48 players at the mini-camp got a UDFA contract. Now there are six RB on the roster, and the Saints will keep 4-5 of them, and if they only keep 4, one will surely be on the practice squad, so most likely only 1 of the 6 will be cut. Go AJ.

Although AJ has still got to fight for a spot, what an accomplishment to get signed! Was so happy to see this when I woke up this morning and even shared it with some friends who support college teams other than Ohio. He's an inspiration for all he has accomplished with his hard work already and has a chance to take it even further.

He’s doing the same thing he did when he came here.....working hard and turning heads.

I think worst science scenario is that he makes the practice squad....still quite an accomplishment.

If AJ can stay healthy I expect at least practice squad and possibly suiting up due to injuries at some point and really turning heads..ala Rex Burkhead type
