He’s gonna wake up Sunday morning and still have a job. Quite remarkable to be so bad at your job and still cash checks.

You guys are sad! This team is at least battling! The players committed 3 turnovers. That has zero to do with coaching.

I agree I don't like the title of this thread, but I will say that Albin's inability to coach is quite remarkable. As but one example: at the end of the game we need two scores to send it into OT. I'm telling everyone around me that we should kick a FG with slightly more than 2:00 to go with two timeouts in our pocket. Score a FG there and if the onside kick fails you have a chance to get the ball back again. As it was, we ran the clock trying to score a TD, settled for a FG with very little time left and no TOs left. I'm sure other posters can chime in with other examples of coaching during this game.

You know it does. I continually saw our ball carriers head into traffic, carrying the ball way outside their body, not covering the ball at all, my wife elbowing me because I kept yelling "hang on to the ball!". I'm so smart because my pee wee coaches taught me that.

Go back to the basketball thread where you can bash Saul as you did for so long.

Did Albin throw the Int? Did Albin fumble twice? Do you wanna revisit prior games and how they were lost?

Albin is obviously Vince Lombardi minus the talent. We all are just ignoring the obvious genius.

1-7 has nothing to do with coaching.

I wish I had a chance to make $1.1M guaranteed in two years to be an unappreciated genius.

Records be dammed! 3-21 will be worth every penny of that money!

Nice try to avoid FACTS.

Since you posted elsewhere "I don't believe TailGreat is even open for weeknight games ... another giant middle finger from athletic dept for those who paid a decent chunk of change for one of those parking passes".

If you are unable to afford your parking pass kindly PM me and I'll pay it for you. I assumed you had a degree and a job.

Will you pay for mine too? And yes it's ridiculous they don't open that lot for weeknight games. With the size of the crowd you get, the cost to staff/clean is tiny. Then again happy to be wrong if they do allow it but I'm pretty sure they don't.

As for coaching you are correct, the coach doesn't make a turnover. However the head coach is ultimately responsible for putting the team in the best position to win. That includes game planning, team discipline. among many other things. This team lost a game by stupid penalty and had no shot to win because of another stupid penalty. This team was clearly not prepared for an FCS opponent. Yes they have played better in the last few weeks. But I still put this 1-7 squarely on the head coach. We will see how well the team responds now that the season is lost. It is real easy to let it slip away further. A good head coaching job can stop that. It's really disappointing because I personally really like Albin.

Looks like my critique of Saul and my analysis for years of wanting Jeff Boals as head coach and knowing what he could do for this program was spot on. I clearly remember you not being in Boals corner from day one and not expecting him to do anything in his first couple of years. Looks like only one of us was right about that one. You go enjoy supporting Albin and his incredible ability to turn Ohio into one of the worst football programs in the country. And Jerry, it only took him eight weeks to do it. That takes talent!

Albin lost to Duquesne. With that fact alone, you've lost all credibility my friend in this discussion about Albin and where fault lies. When Boals loses to Concordia Ann Arbor, then come talk to me. You died on the Saul hill and it looks like you'll die on the Albin hill as well.

Tough times man. Reminds me of the late 80's sadly. Students walking the campus in OSUcks jerseys in masses, little support for the team and a very empty stadium on gameday. The students that did show up made jokes about the team and program.

It took many years under Frank to change that view. All we needed was a "program" and some decent wins and the place would be electric. I made the drive dozens of times and the overall trip and experience was a total face lift from the 80's.

Can that be destroyed in a single season? I can only say that things seem heading the wrong direction. I do not feel good about the lack of recruits right now. AD and FB Coach not looking great. It is a disheartening situation.

Save us Jeff Boals!

Sadly, that about sums it up. Everything that was built in the last 15 years is appearing to disappear in a hurry.

The downturn started in 2019. I think we had four losses at home that year! Wasn't that the first year with the current DC? The DC certainly is a contributor to the failures.

You make a good point. 2019 was the year after Coach Burrow retired, and it was marked by a maddening inability to make stops at critical junctures in games.

Well said. It's not the results Ohio fans are accustomed to seeing, but TA and Ohio continue to play hard and battle and are in all these MAC games. All 3 of these MAC losses could have easily been wins, and they're literally a few plays away from being 4-0 in the conference. And that all stems back to the coaches having their players prepared and the players executing with effort. Even in the losses it's evident that is there.

Ok ... so using your incredibly sound logic, Ohio is also a few plays from being 1-3 in the MAC.

Ummm ... please hold ... Ok ... I'm being told Ohio is in fact 1-3 in the MAC.

Apparently blowing a 21-0 1st quarter lead .... and a 7pt 4th quarter lead ... has NOTHING to do with coaching.

Nor does losing to a FCS school that has never beaten a FBS team. Oh! And that FCS school was playing a backup QB.

And I guess having a defense that ranks worse than 200th nationally in points allowed, rushing yards allowed, 3rd down conversions, and total yards has NOTHING to do with coaching.

As long as you lose by less than 7 in the worst division in the FBS, you are successful.

Give. This. Man. A. Contact. Extension. Now!

I'd hate to lose him to LSU or USC.

This season has produced a silver lining. As you continue to bash this program even when it is successful and then pile on it when it finally isn’t, it kind of puts a smile on my face to know people like you who complain about it all the time even when things are good are getting a taste of what they deserve. I have news for you my friend, winning a MAC title isn’t going to change your life. You’re still going to have to get up the following day and do whatever it is you do.

I don't think it's unfair to suggest that after 16 years of the same regime we should expect a conference championship. Especially in a league as volatile as the MAC when AKRON has won a damn title. Especially since the college football world held Ohio up to be one of the standard bearers for the conference because we had Frank for so long.

The fact that you've been unable to see the digression is the part that's hard to understand. The program has been on a downslide for a while. And that the current head coach was with that same staff for the entirety of its existence is even more frightening. Maybe SOLICH was being held back by ALBIN, and not the other way around. And that makes me question things even further.

Apparently where we differ is our bars for success. After 16 years some of us have a little higher standards than 7-5 and "almosts" and "played hards" and "we were close." We'd rather not go back to pre-Solich, but Ohio is headed there.
