Lots of damage being done, here. If TA doesn’t get replaced soon this will require a significant rebuild.

Opening the game with a holding penalty was a real table setter. Let's ya know what the day's gonna be like.

Kent DPI keeps the opening drive afloat. Nice runs around the end for good gains. We turn the ball over on downs with 2 straight runs into no hole.

That QB walking away from the center before a direct snap play has been on opponent film study for over 10 years.

Albin is a clown show. Go be an OC in the Northern Sun Conference or something.
My analogy is that Andy Taylor left town and Barney Fife was named sheriff.

Been watching a lot of Andy Griffith reruns recently, and this hits the nail on head. I suppose everyone here knows the OHIO connection to the show, which makes the analogy even cooler.

How 'bout these two 1st-qtr events for head scratchers:

1. Ohio punts on their 2nd possession with Jack Weiland connecting on a 57-yarder downed at the 2 yard line. So, what's TA's thought process on the team's 2nd punt later in the first quarter. He sends out Jack Wilson. Not sure I would have picked up on this, and I imagine few in Peden did, if not for a lady sitting behind me, yelling at the PA announcer on the first punt for mispronouncing Wieland's name and then complaining later when he wasn't sent out for the second punt. This fan, I assume, is Wieland's mom.

2. After Wieland's punt pinned Kent deep in its own territory the Flashes had to punt from around its own 10. I mentioned to my son that Ohio had only 10 players on the field. We then both counted green jerseys and we both came up with 10.

It's just one head scratcher after another with this team's coaching.

I said last week I thought Ohio could beat Buffalo and Kent State, and OU more than proved it could beat UB and should have won that game. Take the offsides away on the final kick and OU wins it. Period. I came away very impressed with how close this team is to turning it around. This team is much, much better than what its record indicates. And it's about to show.

After seeing Kent State get simply obliterated last week, I feel even better about Ohio beating Kent State. The Golden Flashes have looked nothing like the predicted East champs they were picked to be. Yes, they had a tough non-conference schedule, but they barely got past a bad BG team - at home - and they looked awful last week. They have also been destroyed coming out of halftime the last two games, allowing 28 third quarter points to Buffalo and 27 third quarter points to WMU in back-to-back weeks. That's beyond terrible. Oh yeah, and there's the fact that they simply haven't been able to beat Ohio as they've lost 6....SIX....straight to the Bobcats. The bottom line is, Kent State simply can't find a way to beat Ohio. The proof has been in the pudding for years now.

Ohio "could" be 3-0 in the MAC. Kent State can't say that. What's more, if and when Ohio does beat Kent State, Ohio will pull even in the MAC East with the preseason East favorite and would own the head-to-head tie breaker. Think about that for a minute. Ohio still completely controls its own destiny, and has shown me a ton in its three MAC games this season. I believe they can beat anyone in the MAC, and they've already shown they can in the games they've played. Kent State's defense doesn't stand a chance against Ohio's running game and Ohio's defense will keep their offense under control as a couple other MAC teams have done. I think Saturday is going to make a lot of doubters start to believe in what this team is capable of doing, and that run is about to get started on Saturday. Watch and see.
Watched and saw. We stink. Period.

But hey! Only lost by 7 ... pop that champagne!!!

Been sort of wondering who OhioBobcat might be. I'm now of the opinion that he or she is a relative of Coach Albin.

Had to make a 3:00 pickup at the airport yesterday so missed the game but decided to give the radio a try. What's with the constant "north" and "south" end/endzone commments? Is this something new this year?

Yesterday was a tough one, no doubt. But this team continues to prove they can play with anyone in the MAC and I was impressed with the effort and the fight once again. This team is still battling, and you can't find fault in that. If they were coming out and getting rolled and were throwing in the towel, that would be one thing. But they're not. In fact, far from it. They left it all hang out again and came up a little short. No MAC team has been able to beat Ohio by more than 7 points in 6 years, which is proof of how they compete to the end no matter what. That's everything you want to see from a team. The road to Detroit just got more difficult because they'll need some wins and some help. But this team will 100% not pack it in and is going to win a few more games in the next month. Great effort yesterday, it was impressive even in a loss.

You and I have different definitions of "compete." Mine is to win at least five MAC games in order to compete for the division title. Losing "one possession" games can be misleading. We lost Saturday by one possession, but we weren't closer than ten points for a good chunk of the first half and all but about eight minutes of the second. The gap widened to 17 pts twice in the second half. As the saying goes, the game wasn't as close as the final score indicates.
