You all knew who they were and some didn't even play anymore after leaving.

Preston and BVP were outstanding recruits, for sure. But, all in all, Saul struggled to recruit good players to Athens. It seems he faced even bigger challenges convincing them to stay…Ryan Taylor comes to mind…

It would be interesting to see if your theory holds up if you were given the opportunity to interview the exiting players. Unfortunately, I'm more than confident that you'd find that Albin's lack of communication has infected a much deeper level of the program than just the press conferences. To suggest something else is wishful thinking at best.

Yeah, I’ll take a guy who gets consistent talent over the guy who specializes in finding diamonds in the rough.

The former is so much more sustainable.

Cats have a good chance of at least 4-8. He's entering mulligan territory with all things considered and should be back for 2021.

Could have made a bowl though if he got Duquesne and Buffalo.

Its hard to imagine him not being back next year at this point. The only way he was going to get fired is if they determined that the long term impact of keeping him was likely to be so bad compared to the potential benefit of replacing him that it offset the million or so dollars that it would cost to replace him. It has been noted before that he might have been back if he went 0-12. There is some hope now that 2022 won't be that bad so there is almost no way that he is getting canned.

We would need a Tom Arth situation, and nobody wants that. That's always been the conundrum: He's probably not the long-term coaching solution but the only way he would go is if Ohio loses, and nobody wants that. It's been good to see the players respond and the coaching blunders aren't as obvious as they were earlier in the season (except maybe on defense). We've won a couple games against some of the better MAC teams but this season there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between the top and the bottom in the MAC.

This team is playing its best football despite a 1-7 start. That is 100% proof they have not mailed it in at all. These last two wins were against two teams that were 2nd in their respective divisions at the time, trying to get to the MACC. Ohio was a TD underdog in both, and won both. These kids are playing their tails off right now and that goes right back to the coaching staff that has kept them driven and focussed.

I am going to admit I was wrong (don’t call my wife)…but I have to agree with this. Poorly coached teams tend to give up. Quite the opposite story with these guys.

Yeah, short of being fired for cause he's coming back no matter what. Lobbying for or against it is a waste of time.

Credit when credit is due. The team got a nice win on the road last night. Almost gave away the Fiami game by going to a “prevent the win” defense in the second half, but held on for that victory. Last night was two in a row, so well done.

Far from convinced that Albin should stay on after next season, but the team did play hard for four quarters last night. Not a high bar to reach in my book, but it was good to see it happen.

His players know full well that Albin is struggling and fans are not happy with the direction of the program. They also know that a good old fashion "butt-kicking" (as one dilusional fan called the game at one point) would go a long ways in helping to change the trajectory of the season and the dialogue concerning the coach. How did the players respond? By giving up 26 straight points. Yessir - they stepped up for their coach. (think we also blew a 21-0 lead at Buffalo) - "We got you coach"

Albin isn't going anywhere until 12/31/22 - until then there are 4 touch points:
End of this year (how'd they close the season),
2/2/22 - Signing Day - How'd we do?
9/25/22 - Day after the Fordham game (how'd they do in OOC - did we handle the Rams?),
End of next season (do we have a solid, winning schedule in the MAC?)

At this time, all four of these touch points must be positive stops on his train. If not, I could care less about how the players respond - except when they give up 21 to 26 straight points.
End of this year (how'd they close the season), Grade - D at best.

I want to make the following points around this years performance and this coach!

1) Tim took over, in July, a team he was part of, for 15 or so years, that was winning 7-8 games a year.
2) 15 players returned for their SUPER SENIOR year
3) All coaches stayed on
4) Even Frank was on hand as an adviser

The results achieved are unacceptable based on what Tim inherited. PERIOD

I understand we did not have much of a choice to elevate Tim in July as Frank announced he was stepping down due to health reasons. I doubt anyone, at the time of Tim's announcement, thought our results would be this dreadful.

We should have structured a better contract than the one that has been made public. If the university chooses to not make a change for next year we are faced with an uncertain future for our Football Team.

We loose 29 players due to graduation. Others will probably leave via the transfer portal. We still haven't seen anywhere info about our incoming class. Our QB situation is uncertain at best. Rourke is not the answer as he is too inconsistent. All these facts make one think we are in for another loosing season.

Let's make the change now for a quality coach, AKA Solich.
