Ohio had to wait until season's end, but the Bobcats finally get their easiest game of the season in the finale. Ohio has won the last 5 meetings, which is the longest win streak for Ohio in series history, and the last 3 have been complete and utter blowouts. BG is still awful, just slightly less awful this year than in the last five years or so. Still, there is no way in hell Ohio is losing this game. BG hasn't had an answer for Ohio's offense in 5 years whatsoever, and BG's offense has been extremely ineffective except for one game all year. Ohio will get out in front early and pull away as BG will have no chance at keeping pace, let alone winning this game. They simply don't have the horses to stay with OU. Ohio will end the year winning 3 of its last 4, which will be a nice springboard into next season.

Thank you, Nostradamus. It could work that way, but there are other possible scenarios. Like the BG team that beat Minnesota shows up for the second time this season and plays lights out. I hope your prediction comes to pass, but if I were you I would not bet the mortgage on it.

Buffalo lost tonight in OT to NIU so Ohio can finish no worse than tied for third in the East. An Ohio win over BG or a Bulls loss to BSU next Tuesday and an Akron loss in one its last two games means Ohio finishes all alone in third. Better than it could've been.

I hope Ohio wins by 40 and Loeffler is finally put out to pasture where he belongs.

I struggle to find much good out of this season other than it gave me enough hope to get me to hoops season. Meanwhile, NIU goes from zero wins in 2020 to MAC West Champs in 2021. Add that to 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2018!

They bring in a former player in 2019 and go 5-7. Of course, they beat us in Athens 39-36.

0-6 in 2020 was followed by the current 8-3 record with a final home game still left against WMU.

I listened to Hammock's post game last night and he has control of the team and is a really solid coach.

Let's hope 2022 brings us such a turnaround.

Apparently in the "dog house." For what infraction we'll probably never know. Will he play against BG. That's anyone's guess. And, what's up with Julian Ross? Is he still on the team?

I’ll add to this…what about Meservy too? Injury?

Allison is hurt according to recent press conference. Since the chasm between what people on this board claim to know vs what they actually know makes the grand canyon look like a crack in the sidewalk, I'd love more info if you claim otherwise.

Can you provide a link to the injury report? I had not seen that. He has been in Albin's "dog house" before so when I didn't see an injury report that seemed a logical possibility. Also, with your up-to-date information do you know what happened to Julian Ross?

Ross is on the team, has had nothing but injury issues. The only game he participated I was not a good one.

All I know is BG drew the short stick this week. There is no way they want to play Ohio this week, in fact no one in the MAC would want Ohio this week or for the last 5 years for that matter :)

Ftr, I don't check the injury reports but Albin in the post Miami or emu presser specified that Alison was hurt. That's the only knowledge I had.

All I see are two 3-8 teams that are extremely poorly coached and from the most pathetic conference in the country.

Haven't seen anyone reference BG as "BUGS" in a while, so let me start.

You ever have that one team that you just don't like and you can't figure out why? I'm not talking about a heated rival like Miami, or even a secondary rival like the Lake Erie Trio in basketball of Akron/Kent/Buffalo or the hillbillies of Marshall. I'm talking about a team that every time you play it just sticks in your craw and makes you either angry or sick.

For me, that team is BUGS. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's their stupid "Ay Ziggy Zoomba" whatever the heck that means. Maybe it's their Cleveland Browns wannabe looking uniforms. Or maybe the color brown just reminds me of poop and I hate poop. Either way, in any sport we play, I hope we beat them to a pulp. Doesn't matter if it's football, basketball, volleyball, tiddlywinks or horseshoes.

Go Bobcats.

Actually, it's the other way around. Cleveland and Cincinnati have BG-inspired uniforms. But, your basic point, that BG deserves scorn is accurate. I think their campus is the ugliest that I've ever seen. I once heard the architecture described as looking like a B-29 bomber had flown over BG and dropped ugly, prefabricated buildings wtih totally different architectural styles randomly all over the campus.

In terms of the game, I see two possibilites:

1. BG plays like they did against Minnesota and we are toast.
2. They play like they have the rest of the season and they are toast.

I'm really not sure which one to predict as most likely. Maybe they play their best ball against teams that bear a state name without a directional adjective. If so, we may end up with the short end of the stick. OhioNostradamus says that's not possible, so you've got that to consider.

I do agree that we should win this game. Right now BG can proudly claim sole ownership of the MAC East basement being dead last, unless Akron joins them by losing this Saturday in a rival game to Kent. I also agree that the MAC East is the worst division in all of FBS. Right now only two of the teams have any shot at ending the regular season with a "winning" record. If Miami beats Kent next Saturday they will finish at the top of the East with an overall record of 7-5. Even at 4-8 with a BG win, is that really what we want for the program? I know it is what we will have but why not change the system and dump the entire staff at the end of the season. It is time to go in a completely different direction.

A 4-8 record would be comparable to Solich's first season and Knorr's last season (both were 4-7). Solich started strong his first year, going 4-4 into November before key injuries started piling up. A 4-7 record in Solich's first year was fairly acceptable. Albin, however, had a higher standard to meet. He should have had a leg up given that he's been here for 16 years, recruited at least the players on offense, and had spring coaching with at least the offense. But instead of charging out of the gate offensively, the offense was responsible for only 49 pts in the four September games. The offense responded during the MAC season, maybe because they know Albin better. But except for the Akron game, the defense really hasn't had it together all season. Recruiting will likely be tough for Albin if the word is out that his contract will be reviewed next year, so we'll likely be playing with the hand we already have. Even those recruits who come to Ohio will know that the odds for a coaching change next year are pretty good.

We've seen how this goes with basketball if the coaching staff isn't solidly in place for future years.

Circles back to my thought/opinion on the whole program right now: Gotta decide if winning the MAC is important, or if just fielding a football team that is called an FBS squad is all that matters. If winning the MAC anytime soon truly matters, it seems like moving on from this coaching staff would be the first order of business sometime around December 1st.

Two coaches are retiring which is an opportunity to upgrade the staff with better recruiters so with a win against BG or not Albin I'm quite sure will be back.
