It is time to get out of this sandbox. We don’t have a 60,000 seats stadium and we don’t have millions to throw around. No sense at all in trying to keep up with the Jones’s in this arms race. Time for a new division in college football that is not professional plus in nature.
Dropping down a division is not the answer.
With the way things are going between coaching salaries/firings, major conferences expanding to include the bigger brands and smaller pieces of the pie being divided out, we may not have to drop down. It's gonna happen on its own.
Salaries are going up regardless on how the divisions are configured. Economy rate in the MAC for a head football coach will soon be over 1 million per year.

Oregon's Mario Cristobal taking over at his Alma mater Miami. U of M is paying a huge chunk to get him there, thanks to the success of their hospital.

The same Mario Cristobal that was fired from FIU after going 27-47 there. Back in Miami making $8 million per year. Coaching salary casino.

General consensus was that he was let go way too early at FIU and the AD was a complete mess. He won them their first conference title and went to back-to-back bowl games, which at FIU is a damn big accomplishment. They'd never had a winning season until he got there, but as soon as he started losing again they canned him. Their expectations were outlandish.

Thanks for reminding me of this fact, gruntster. I believe he's the younger brother of a classmate of the older of my two younger sisters.

I'm not sure you can get more a more Cajun name with Louisiana's new hire: Michael Desormeaux

And Jay Norvell changes from Nevada to Colorado State. An interesting move, but Colorado State probably has more potential. Thought he was going to be slated for a low end P5 job soon.

This morning's head-scratcher: Mark Whipple goes from OC at ACC champ Pitt to OC at 3-9 Nebraska. Not sure what connection he would have to Scott Frost or the state of Nebraska that would make him want to go there. Maybe a ton of money?

I have to think that Oklahoma's move to the SEC could have swayed Riley to jump to USC. The path to the playoff will certainly be easier in the PAC 12. I was still surprised to see the move, though.
As a sendoff, an Oklahoma state senator has proposed naming a three-inch section of the westbound lane of state highway 325 as "Lincoln Riley Highway." The highway is in a remote part of the panhandle, running from Boise City to the New Mexico state line. Mostly scrub brush and air. It's biggest attraction is a replica of a brontosaurus femur at a roadside museum about ten miles from New Mexico. Shows their love for Coach Riley.

Sorry, but I don't see the connection with the Ferris Bueller's story of passing information on by a student who said, "My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.” I was simply describing a relationship. There was nothing in my post that had anything to do with passing on information through some long chain.

I have two younger sisters. If I describe the older one as my "older sister" it's inaccurate because people will think that she is older than your humble correspondent. If I describe her as my younger sister that's also not accurate because it implies to most listeners that she's younger than my other sister. If you have a more parsimonious way to describe this relationship, I'd really like to know it.

Since I am in the Zips database for buying tickets when the Bobcats are in Akron I got a looonnngg message form the new head coach of the Zips inviting me to season tickets. He sounded really upbeat and has a very nice talking voice.

He sucked up all my memory ao I had to delete it immediately..

Joe Morehead is only going to be making 500k at Akron. There is a chance to keep salaries reasonable in the MAC for a while longer.
