Shades of intrigue and suspense. What does BTC really mean and was this intentional? Food for thought. BTW, I am in the same camp as OCF. If we would actually get blown out by 35 points or anything approaching that amount then we have entered a parallel universe/time and have warped back into the days of Cleve/Lichty. God forbid that happens. However, I do not see that happening and actually believe we should win this game. Why? Because we are playing a 2-4 team in arguably the worst division of any conference in the FBS. Seriously, the MAC East is an absolute joke filed with bottom feeders.
Cleve/Lichty: Ohio's Dark Age. Those two gents combined to lead the Cats to 17 wins over 10 seasons.
Please note that Cleve/Lichty were working with a football budget that was near or at the bottom of the league. Frank and Albin have had plenty of funds with which to build this juggernaut.
Did Grobe suddenly get more money?
Yes, Grobe was the real deal. Last I looked he was coaching some arena league team, maybe he'd like a second go-around in Athens, which is close to his hometown of Huntington. His wife is a Huntington native too, if I remember correctly. Another wild thought, but what better do we have to do on this forum now? Certainly can't speculate on what bowl we are going to go to -- except for OhioBobcat, bless his heart!
No. He did bring a program-building plan. After his hiring was announced he said, "We are going to run the option, and we are going to recruit quick feet."
He also brought grit and discipline. Example: His third season opened with an 3-pt loss at ranked Kansas State and a win at Maryland. At 8-1, Sagarin had Ohio at about 33rd. On the eve of Game 10 at home to Miami, Grobe suspended Hookin for that game for an infraction of Grobe Rules. Grobe kicked all-MAC DB Dennis Fitzgerald off the team for fighting with teammates. That and more explains why Baylor brought him as Mr. Clean for a one-season scrubbing of a scandal-scarred program.
