If Scott Frost is fired at Nebraska, do we pick up another former cornhusker coach?
Now there is a real evaluator of talent! The guy will always be tied to his comment that Joe Burrow was not better than what they already had.
Well we hired Albin so I wouldn’t put it past them
Who would you have hired in July? Where would you find a full staff in July. I’ll await this educated answer.
I would’ve made him an interim position since it was so late. Good enough for ya?
And that’s basically a lame duck in recruiting and everything else. Guess that’s probably why you do not work in the industry.
So what’s recruiting looking like right now? Putting the interim tag on for this year could’ve saved a lot of money for the school. Instead we’re stuck for another 3 or 4 years but maybe things will drastically change. Might be a lame duck for a year but I’d take that over 3. What would you do if you were in the “industry”?

I would do exactly what was done! The belief that some of you had going into this season about the talent level on this team and the expectations, were simply unrealistic. Last spring we played the bad teams in the league and had Covid when the better teams come around.

And an interesting tag was still going to cost you a lot of money, that does not come with a “discount”.

I knew going into the season that there was going to be a lot of unknowns. Especially after Frank retired but damn I don’t think anyone thought it would be this bad.

Give those unknowns time to improve and get better. Though the Cats lost Saturday, no one can deny that there has not been improvement.

Good catch -- the old double negative issue. Real meaning being that "everyone can deny that there's been improvement." However, assuming I know what BTC actually meant, I agree that there has been improvement. The only question is whether or not it is enough to make a difference in the W & L total at the end of the year. I think Saturday we will know the answer. If Pataskla is anywhere near correct in his 35 point blowout predicition, Albin is toast.

Shades of intrigue and suspense. What does BTC really mean and was this intentional? Food for thought. BTW, I am in the same camp as OCF. If we would actually get blown out by 35 points or anything approaching that amount then we have entered a parallel universe/time and have warped back into the days of Cleve/Lichty. God forbid that happens. However, I do not see that happening and actually believe we should win this game. Why? Because we are playing a 2-4 team in arguably the worst division of any conference in the FBS. Seriously, the MAC East is an absolute joke filed with bottom feeders.

Cleve/Lichty: Ohio's Dark Age. Those two gents combined to lead the Cats to 17 wins over 10 seasons.

Please note that Cleve/Lichty were working with a football budget that was near or at the bottom of the league. Frank and Albin have had plenty of funds with which to build this juggernaut.

Did Grobe suddenly get more money?
No. He did bring a program-building plan. After his hiring was announced he said, "We are going to run the option, and we are going to recruit quick feet."

He also brought grit and discipline. Example: His third season opened with an 3-pt loss at ranked Kansas State and a win at Maryland. At 8-1, Sagarin had Ohio at about 33rd. On the eve of Game 10 at home to Miami, Grobe suspended Hookfin for that game for an infraction of Grobe Rules. Grobe kicked all-MAC DB Dennis Fitzgerald off the team for fighting with teammates. That and more explains why Baylor brought him in as Mr. Clean for a one-season scrubbing of a scandal-scarred program.

Did Grobe suddenly get more money?
Yes, Grobe was the real deal. Last I looked he was coaching some arena league team, maybe he'd like a second go-around in Athens, which is close to his hometown of Huntington. His wife is a Huntington native too, if I remember correctly. Another wild thought, but what better do we have to do on this forum now? Certainly can't speculate on what bowl we are going to go to -- except for OhioBobcat, bless his heart!

Any traction on Nick Rolovich to Ohio? Power 5 experience and clearly a man who stands up for what he believes in. If he doesn't care about the $3 million/year that Wazzou was shelling out, then he'll probably be fine with a contract similar to Albin's. He can live in anonymity the secluded Hocking Hills. Who says no?

If he could bring some transfers, yeah, maybe. But it's concerning that he seems to be extremely headstrong or narrow minded. He'd asked for a religious exemption and was asked several weeks ago to expand on the reasoning for his request (no major religious denomination has opposed vaccinations). But he never responded. You gotta wonder about that mindset. I mean, if his job is at stake and they just want to know the basis for his request, shouldn't he cooperate? It's a blind review process, so nobody reviewing would know who he is. If he's doing this just to prove a point or set up a court case, that's quite a risk with his job on the line. It's also probably a distraction for his team.

A complete and utter unwillingness to allow overwhelming evidence to change your existing opinion is an incredibly poor trait for any leader.

I saw a column calling for Justin Fuente's ouster from VaTech and thought he might be a good candidate as Ohio's next coach. After all, he did take Memphis from "the worst job in America to a winning program," according to the article. But after reading the description of their loss to Syracuse, he sounds too much like what we already have:

"It happened in a way that has become all too familiar for Hokies fans in late-game situations. After giving up a big kickoff return and failing to mount much defensive resistance as the Orange cut the deficit to 36-34, Virginia Tech played conservatively and punted the ball away with 1:04 left. That was enough for Syracuse to go 70 yards, completing a 45-yard touchdown pass with 19 seconds left to hand Virginia Tech a second come-from-ahead loss this month. Just a few weeks ago, Virginia Tech led Notre Dame 29-21 with 3:55 left and somehow lost in regulation. The Hokies lost a third close one earlier in the year against West Virginia when they had first-and-goal at the 3-yard line with a chance to win and couldn’t score on four plays."

He's become very "old guy yells at cloud" when it comes to NIL. Not a good look when trying to compete for Texas recruits.

Fleck just got a seven-year contract at Minn, which runs through 2028. It's two years past his current contract. No financial terms available and it has to be approved by the regents.
