Yeah, I reported that last month.
Not only that, but I bet BTC's dad can beat up your dad.
My father has been dead 21 years ago today. Way to keep it classy.

My dad has been dead for 16 years so at least it will be a fair fight.

Sorry, Wayne. Was not aware of that (obviously). The point I'm trying to make remains the same.

I wonder if this is where they’ll make a big announcement that as a gift and thank you to Ohio University, Frank and his wife are personally financing the replacement of the playing surface, To be ready for the beginning of the 2022 season.
Good luck with that! This is a celebration of Coach and his contributions to OHIO Football. Not an announcement of a turf project that he's funding.

They are naming the field after him. It’s going to be something like Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium is my understanding.
Yeah, I reported that last month. But it's not like the aforementioned poster who said it would be because of Coach paying for the field. It's in honor of his contributions on the field, not from any donation.
It's amazing .. you report stuff before the media or even Ohio University does. WOW. Who needs Arkley or the press when we have you?

Speaking of potential donors, Larry Conner, the pilot of the space vehicle launched yesterday, that is carrying well-to-do private citizens, is an Ohio grad (1972). His bio mentions he is a real estate and technology entrepreneur and heads The Connor Group (Dayton). Says he’s involved in racing. Not one to suggest how people should spend their money but can’t help wondering if he likes other sports too, and of course, in particular, Ohio University sports. :)

Yeah, but most of us generally ignore your posts. So thanks for posting about the field Lackey - otherwise we wouldn't have known. ;)

I understand there was a HUGE dinner for Coach in Columbus on Friday night. Supposedly about 400 former players and coaches in attendance.

Yes, was a great evening of celebration. Lots of old players, old coaches and alumni came back into town. Lots of laughs, and was great seeing Coach get reunited with so many who love and respect him.

Have any idea, BTC, if there was a significant mix of both Ohio and Nebraska connections?

Only the OHIO connections that I noticed. Tons of people, so did not know everyone there, but it was an OHIo celebration of Frank.

Frank is a man of few words. He was very gracious for the turnout and all the former players who showed up Friday and Saturday for practice.

Peter King has a nice mention of it in his column this week. It's about halfway down:

What a great story about the 2010 Louisiana game. Very few coaches at any level would have done what he did.

He's right about Ohio being a challenge. It's a football program at what is still primarily a basketball school. His challenge was to make it competitive, and that's what he did. The challenge in the future is to build on that and win MAC championships.

So there isn’t anything to contribute from anyone about the supposed “spring practice/equipment sale/honor Frank” event today???

Honor Frank was cancelled. He was at the scrimmage today though. Not sure if he bought anything at the spring sale though?

The word on the street is that Ohio won. There just doesn’t seem to be much interest right now. If they start winning games that will probably change.

Arkley was there and wrote a nice story on the day with his analysis.

Thanks for the info BTC. Glad to hear Rourke was impressive. However, I am disappointed you couldn’t provide confirmation that Frank wasn’t there to buy anything at the sale. It would have helped me deal with my not making to Athens. Now I will have to continue to think I may have missed an opportunity to exchange elbows and “box out” with him to get the good stuff. ;)

Forgive my cynicism.
But, looking at the pictures of the scrimmage, the QB's were wearing
red (do not touch) jerseys.
Its not hard to shine, when you don't have to worry about getting creamed by a DB or LB.

Actually the QB’s were live for over half the scrimmage. Rourke played most without the red jersey. This was the case all spring. QB’s were live, full tackle most of the spring

I stand corrected.
The only pictures I saw had the QB's in red jerseys.

I can understand that with all the media coverage the Cats had over the course of spring ball
