University just announced the football field will be named after Solich. Complete name will be Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium. Absolutely fitting.

Name will go into effect with season opener vs. FAU, formal dedication ceremony planned for the NIU game October 22

Great decision.
Now it's time for the Convo floor to be named The Gentlemen Jim Synder Floor.

Agree wholeheartedly.

Also note that the October 22nd game is described as "senior night," which means (A) it's a night game, something that I don't think has been announced yet and (B) it's the first time I can remember that senior recognition won't occur at that last, sparsely attended home game in November. Unless, of course, that was faux news.

And don't forget the Tim Albin Waste Disposal Area.

I'm pretty stoked for Frank he really does deserve it.
All time MAC leader in wins and 0 conference championships.

Still his complete lack of a secession plan (a bumbling idiot as replacement coach) will leave a bad taste in my mouth for quite a few years.

But special needs folks need jobs too.

Really, it is kind of surprising that it didn't get named the Snyder Convocation Center 35 years ago. That probably won't happen at this point. It's probably more likely to get a Corporate sponsor at some point.

On serious note, I think Quidel is a real possibility. The company has been doing real well over the last few years, had the first point of-care rapid SARS-Cov-2 antigen test given EUA. Because of the heavy investment that many hospitals and labs have made in acquiring their testing machines for Covid-19, they now have a strong base in place for their other viral tests. Their Athens plant has been at the forefront of the development of some of their new products. And, David Scholl, one of their VPs, has served on the Board of Trustees. Seems like they could win the bidding war over Burrito Buggy and maybe even the Sunset Motel! ;-)

I actually did hear they had a fast growing Columbus area technology firm interested in naming rights for the Convo. Apparently they hire a lot of Ohio grads every year.

Bumbling idiot is too kind. Albin is a total embarrassment to the University. The man can't put two sentences together.

Agree 100% ,but obviously O.U. didn't see it that way since they didn't buy him out and instead chose to keep him for this season.

Hopefully he communicates better with this players and staff and we don't have the same disaster of season as last year.

Root started sponsoring the Browns this year.

They wear a patch on their practice uniforms.

I'd be shocked if the results were any better. Albin is completely incompetent and in miles over his head. Disastrous decision by the University to have hired him in the first place.

The timing of Frank's retirement left the AD with limited options.

That being said.

My opinion is she should have named Albin "interim" Head Coach.

Give him a year to see how he does.
Especially since his staff and his players, at least on offense were already in place for the season.

People here have said he wouldn't accept it.

That's where you need an AD with enough backbone to say "take it or leave it".

Its not like people have been knocking down his door with HC offers, since he came here.

He refuses, fine, name someone else on his staff interim for a year.
Couldn't have turned out much worse then last season.

This season will let us know if/ or how big a blunder Julie made.

I don't think he should have even been hired on an interim basis. A coaching search could have been done and a quality candidate found. Would it have been a rough few seasons.....probably but isn't that what we ended up with anyway?

It's been one full season. I'll revisit this statement at the end of the year.

I'm not an Albin defender but I also don't have a crystal ball.

And nor do I. I hope I am proven wrong but I've seen absolutely nothing yet that makes me have hope.
