Appalachia State beats Texas A&M last week. Marshall does the unthinkable and takes out Notre Dame. The Tulane Green Wave are hanging with Kansas State 7 to 7. It is not unreasonable to expect more out of Ohio today

Anybody know how much OHIO is getting paid to play this game? That’s the only potential positive thing coming out of today.
From another thread, it's a home-and-home series. ISU pays our expenses.

Not a good move on that sack. Just eat the ball instead of losing another five or ten yds.

Ball carrier and tackler both lower and lead with their helmets prior to helmet-to-helmet collision. Why does targeting penalty always goes against the defender?

I am pretty confident that we are putting the fear of God into Fordham.

Looked like Navarro was hurt after he fumbled; landed weird on his shoulder (left one, I think).

We have 15 rushing yds, thanks to -47 by the QBs.

And guess what?

The Fordham starting QB has thrown 5+ touchdowns in each game so far (yes, I realize it's FCS but still). Our secondary better step it up next week or else it will be really embarrassing.

It's also just sad that we can't even come close to competing with these types of P5 teams and yet an App State / Marshall can beat a Texas A&M and Notre Dame.

Sure, we can maybe beat the worst BIG12 team Kansas but that's about it unfortunately. Sad times.

Remind me why Ohio and the MAC continue to compete at the higher level? I don’t see it.

I feel like we are ever so slightly above FCS teams but the gap between us and other P5 and good G5 schools is very very wide. I mean go back and look at our non-conference games for the last 10ish years. It's brutal.

Even games that should be somewhat competitive like against Syracuse or Northwestern were blowouts big time.

He's just about 400 yds away from 10,000 for his career. Although they're undefeated, they have D problems. They gave up 31 pts to Wagner (0-2), 49 to Monmouth (1-2) and 45 to Albany (0-3). They need a lot of offense because they're D is pretty bad.

Right now we are maybe mid-level FCS talent, and I do not think we would be anywhere near competing for a National Title in FCS. Why, because not only us but most of the MAC treats their football programs like afterthoughts and will not get out of the same boat and actually try to compete. Case in point, many on this very Board would vote to keep TA even if he goes 5-7 or 6-6. We all settle for mediocrity and talk about how "stable" a conference we are. In case you have not noticed, the fan base is shrinking rapidly as well as the posters on this very Board. As for support, why throw any money at a program that clearly has zero expectations for success. As others have stated, Appy State, Marshall and even Georgia Southern found ways to compete with and beat so-called blue blood programs last week while we basically $$it a brick for two weeks. As for Fordham, we should crush them but based upon the way we are playing I am not sure we will come out of that game with a win. Welcome to the 1980's all over again.

If you want more proof of where things have bottomed out, did anyone get an email survey request on what the next President should be doing? Joke town. It basically tries to lead you down a path to pick anything except athletics. Competing in D1 sports is never an option.

MAC East Division downright putrid right now. If Akron loses tonight entire division will be under .500% winning percentage. Surprised Buffalo is 0-3.

I hope things have bottomed out for this season. We lost the last two games by 89-20, and though not too unexpected it just ain't good. Toledo has put up 21 on O$U and its only the third quarter. We should do better -- a lot better -- now that we've played our toughest opponents.

We can't take Fordham for granted. They put points on the board and a few breaks could make a difference. Sagarin has them ranked 196 this week; we're 101 and it'll probably be closer next week. Still, it's the kind of team we should beat. I've said all along that if we lose to Fordham that should be Albin's last game at Ohio, and I still think that. Last year he had Solich's retirement as an excuse for losing to Duquesne and going 3-9, but he doesn't have that this year. The excuse games are over; it's time for some accountability.
