Please forgive me for being somewhat OT but I can’t help but wonder if Trey Hendrickson (Bengals DE and FAU alum) will be at the game Saturday. Maybe even with Joe. I doubt if he gets many opportunities during the season. Also, apologies to Browns fans. Carry on.
Yeah, they'll be at the Ohio State game.
Not much of a gambler but I think I’d take that bet. ;)

Will Kacmarek starting at TE is a nice surprise

Maybe. He's one of the several "OR" designations. Him or Tyler Foster, though Kacmarek is listed first if that means anything. Also interesting that backup QB is Parker Navarro OR CJ Harris. Punter remains Wieland OR Wilson. A few other backups listed that way.

Some initial 2-deep comments...

- Feeling pretty good about WR depth, looks like their can be 6-10 in the mix. Also, no Keegan Wilburn on there and it appears that he will be in the mix as well.

- Some interesting position changes of note...Ben Johnson to FS, Jack McCrory to DE

- No Dugan or Stai on the 2-deep at DE. They started a significant amount of games last year I believe

- Despite the injury to Danneker, OL depth looks pretty good. I know it was mentioned that someone will have to step up at the RT position (Rhodes Jr / Dennison)

- No Dontay Hunter (Purdue transfer), Chris Mayfield (Michigan St transfer) on 2-deep.

No Hunter at DE is a surprise.

Johnson and McCrory are gamers that positions that need game changers.

With only 2 quality RBs maybe Navarro gets to run some at QB.

Hopefully Dennison or Rhodes can plow the road at RT.

Vakos doing kickoffs….might get a chance at some FGs.

They certainly know how to make in-game adjustments. Gave up an easy TD.
Did you stay up late the other night and watch Vandy @ Hawaii?

Hawaii scored early on a missed tackle thing and then got outscored 63-3 the rest of the way and the "3" they got was due to a bogus penalty on VU. I bet that will be the last time Hawaii talks crap to an SEC team leading up to game day, even if it was just Vandy. In 2 weeks Hawaii plays Michigan iirc. I bet they keep their mouth shut this time. Unless they want the Wolverines to hang 80 on them.

Rhodes was with the 1's in the scrimmage a few weeks back so I wasn't shocked to see that as well as Watkins and McCrory at DE. Hunter didn't take part in the scrimmage Stai played a few reps at DE but if I remember correctly had offseason surgery. Dugan also didn't go that day. The defense looks a lot different hopefully the Nowinsky approach adds some speed and aggression.

In the game notes former Bobcats in the pros section both Hagan and Carrie are mentioned as making “a few appearances” in the NFL. Carrie ”a FEW appearances”? Really?

I am highly concerned that the Bobcats will be a step too slow on most plays in this game.

Like it or not, the program is squarely in the dregs of D1 football right now and the talent level is likely too low to win this game. Hope I'm wrong.

Could be similar to the Louisiana game last year.

This document felt like a first draft in so many ways. Disappointed in the NFL section that Armani Rogers and DeMontre Tuggle weren't given any love. Also, if you look at the Coaches Poll for MAC, the West is just the East repeated. Grammatically, there are a number of miscues. Feels like it could be submitted to a class in the journalism school for a quick edit.

Unfortunately, this level of sloppiness is nothing new. I remember several years ago when we used to have printed programs (remember those days?) they had a section on NFL Bobcats. I pointed out that they left out Vince Costello, arguably the Bobcat with the most storied NFL career, and they seemed very unconcerned. They just shrugged it off, and made no attempt to correct it in future weeks, and those were not pre-printed pages, so corrections were possible.

Nice to have a super duper senior in Ross and maybe the Ball State transfer will show us something.
Why do you consider Ross a "super duper senior"?
This will be his 6th year in Athens.

Ohio is 7-1 as a program in its last eight games when getting to 30, and 2-13 over the last three seasons when it doesn’t.

Ohio has lost the last three season openers vs D1A teams (Tex St in 2016, at CMU in 2020, Syracuse last year; we had Hampton, Howard and URI in 2017-19). One streak worth breaking.

I usually don't click on ESPN's "Bottom 10" column because (a) it's little more than click bait and (b) more importantly, it's really sophomoric in the bastardizing of schools' and teams' names. (I know I use T'erd and MOFO, but that's rivalry stuff, and I can't hold a candle to Ryan McGee's idiocy.) But I saw it earlier this week and just out of curiosity I bit. At least Ohio wasn't mentioned, not even on its wait list. That was a hopeful sign.

Well, you made me do it. I looked at the Bottom 10. Did notice that one of our opponents is on the pre-season list, by the level of past performance, I guess: UAkron. I hope we don't strive to emulate them this year! I agree that McGee goes way overboard with the alternate trying-to-be-funny names he uses for the schools. A few are slightly funny, but most IMHO don't rise to the level of sophomoric; they're more like junior high humor.

(1) Looks like showers, possibly some thunder around game time. Channel 4 says it'll come through Columbus around 5 pm, then move south and east through the early evening.

(2) I saw them use a new review rule during the FAU game last week -- the booth can review and make obvious calls without the field refs getting involved. The booth just signals a review and then radios the answer to the ref. It cuts some time off the review process. Haven't seen it used tonight, though.

Interesting piece. It makes us sound like we might almost be good. I'm still confused as to why Nowinsky left consensus contender Miami for OHIO, with an untested HC. I'm glad he did, but it's hard to figure out why. My best guess is that Martin is an SOB to work for.

I was paying about half attention to the forecast last night. What they're showing today is occasional rain in Athens from about noon to about 6 pm then some light showers moving out by 7:00.
