Anyone know any more about this guy? I see he's one of Caspet71's coveted 3-star athletes.

It looks like UCF used him as a runner in specific situations. He played in six games and attempted only two passes. He had seven rushing attempts and scored three touchdowns. He is getting pushed down to third-string with an SEC transfer coming in. I'm skeptical about transfer QBs in part because they have never lived up to the potential. I would assume that if he was living up to the potential they would not have brought in a transfer. I do think it is a good move since his skills seem to align well with our offense.

could be said about most everyone that “transfers down” - and for both QBs currently on the roster.

agree. good signing for this team

He had a shoulder injury in Spring camp. It doesn't say if it is his throwing shoulder or not, nor how serious it is:

Looks like his non-throwing shoulder. The picture shows him throwing right handed and the story said his left arm was in a sling.

It also says he was "limited" for the rest spring camp after the injury, which doesn't sound too serious. At least he wasn't held out for the rest of camp.

SBH has announced him as QB1, he must know something.

He knows (as we all do) that we need an upgrade at QB - either from those currently on the team or from the outside. Albin is coaching for his job and, potentially, for his career/career path. I give him credit for knowing he needs the position to grow for him to succeed.

To think the staff hasn’t been looking for an upgrade is silly. I’m glad they have one, and glad to see he will be QB1

Never said they weren't looking to upgrade, nor even implied it (just your dismissive conclusion) - Billy just being Billy here folks. Nothing new....nothing to see.

I hope he's ready for a climate change. From Phoenix to Orlando to Athens, OH. It's quite possible that he's never experienced winter.

Parker Navarro.
Anyone who has high hopes that this is the new QB1 at Ohio, I wouldn't bank on that. I was told first hand from a staff member that this was a depth move. That's not to say he won't play, he could, but more in the role of what they did with Armani last year with running packages. I feel bad for CJ Harris because this likely could play his hand into the transfer portal. Harris is firmly planted behind Rourke again, Armani took his PT away the last years, and now Navarro will come in and jump ahead of him too. His development was really hindered by the transfer of Armani, then Armani exercised an additional year due to Covid so instead of Armani eating up QB2 reps for a year, it became two. Armani is finally gone, and then another transfer comes in again. May 1st has passed so Harris has to take a long look in the mirror at this point. He's likely going to be behind these two for several years because they are both underclassmen. But Rourke is still QB1. I was also told that Bangura will likely be RB1 and that they are also looking to add another RB, but again, for depth. Also, they think they have the best set of WR's they've ever had here. And they really like the OL.

Better than Price, Brazill and Dunlop? Two guys that were drafted and the prototype short-yardage guy.

Like someone else said earlier; no D1, P5 transfers to Ohio have proved out to be very good, Brad Bower comes to mind. These guys all see that they were originally selected by P5 schools back on HS performance and potential, That potential never materializes and they transfer down because they want to play in a D1 program.
If Harris can't improve enough over these past few years to beat out Rourke then he just doesn't have it.

Fade route king Terrance Macrae a starter among that group too.

Armani initially came in as a grad transfer for CJ's true freshman season. 100 times out of 100 you make that recruiting move. It does suck for CJ that Covid happened and Armani exercised an option that was best for him.

That said, looking at how Kurtis has played for a season+, he should not be seen as some incumbent to the starting spot. When your quarterback room is Kurtis Rourke, a guy who has attempted one pass in his career, a true freshman, and a walk-on, absolutely let's bring in another guy who has been through a fall camp and see who emerges. In no position group in no sport should we not keep our eyes open for players who could provide an upgrade.

If August Pitre shows up it might be close.

Read earlier that he was here taking classes.

Just not sure why he isn’t on the roster or included in Spring Practice.

Please no more of this swapping QBs in and out on passing vs. running plays ...

I think the jury is still out on him, so I wouldn't get too excited until fall camp. He played special teams and a bit at QB at UCF but was mostly a runner and apparently was used at QB only in an emergency -- just 1 completion in two attempts for 4 yds at UCF, all in the Gasparilla Bowl vs Florida. Rushing about the same -- a total of 7 carries for 54 yds, 32 of those on one play (vs UConn, not the best defensive team). Otherwise 6 carries for 22 yds. He did have three rushing TDs, so it sounds like most of his carries were around the goal line. We're a bit thin on receivers, so any thoughts on making him a TE? At 6' and 200 lbs he doesn't have the size for wideout but might be TE material.

OCF knows me. Maybe he should play somewhere other than QB if he is a good athlete and playmaker. Wonder how fast he is?

Armani was a starter at his prior school, not so Navarro. It's reasonable to guess that Rourke will be ahead of CJ because he has been in the past, but CJ probably has as much pt at the college level as Navarro, and he's familiar with the Ohio offense.
