I really appreciate these first posts on each game. That said, in this modern age, isn't ESPN+ and ESPN3 TV? That's where I watch it.

I think Ted does a great job with this upcoming opponent topic.
I don't think we should split hairs with webcast vs TV. Does it really matter? You may need an activity to fill your spare time.
In my opinion let it be.

If so, I'm calling for Albin's head (figurately speaking) on Sunday!

If we are unable to win this week I would definitely think that TB hurt his chances to retain his job for next year.

I said before the season that anything less than six wins should mean a head coaching change, but dropping needed-OT-to-beat-St._Francis Akron on Homecoming could be grounds for auto-dismissal.

That said, barring too many lingering injuries coming out of Kent, I think we win comfortably.

That's what my brain is telling me, but my brain also told me we'd beat Fordham by a comfortable margin. In that case my gut didn't agree with my brain. And, I must say that my gut is at odds with my brain this week, also.

I just discovered that Joe Morehead, the Akron coach, is a Fordham graduate and once coached Fordham. He played QB at Fordham. He also was a very effective OC at Penn State. He apparently knows how to coach QBs as Irons has shown steady improvement this year. And, now I read that Irons was limited to drop-back passing for three games because of an injury but now may be fully healthy, so he'll be able to call his own number against OHIO. If you look at his numbers, they are not that far behind those of Rourke.

D. Irons 112-179 (62%), 1143 YDS, 6 TD, 2 INT
K. Rourke 127-186 (68%), 1517 YDS, 11 TD, 2 INT

If he's more mobile this week, he could very well be close to Rourke's efficiency. Bottom line, my head is now getting more inline with my gut on the Akron game, which is not good news for the Bobcats.

Bobcats favored by 11.

Hope no deja vu. Kent on their Homecoming giving Ohio 11 slips by in OT

OHIO on its HC giving 11 to the Zips.

Don't need an OT game as that just pushes the post game 110 band show back further.

Moorhead has been in the national spotlight for a while. Penn State's offense hasn't been the same since he left for the Mississippi State head coaching job. He sorta flamed out there mostly because Mississippi is Mississippi and he never really fit in. But he was the OC of the Oregon team that went into Columbus last year and beat Ohio State. He sat out a few games for personal health issues and there was a glaring difference between Oregon with Moorhead and without.

The guy can flat out coach and scheme, and will probably be gunning for the Pitt job if and when Pat Narduzzi is gone (he's from Pittsburgh).

They gave a pretty good update on offensive injuries on the Coach’s Show Monday night.
Rhodes could be back at tackle.
Walton and Foster are day to day.
Ross was working on the side in uniform but didn’t participate in team.
Amburgey will be another month.
They were pleased with Bangura’s foot and how it held up.
Defensively Sanders and Drake sat out Monday as well as Keye Thompson. Keye is questionable.

BTW the Coach’s Show has been awesome. I know we have some Albin critics but as far as giving you information on the team he’s so much more open than Coach Solich and Russ is well…Russ. Great at his job. Amazing he’s been here as long as he has.

Hopefully we can come out against their weak OL and give Irons a hard time. They gave up 6 sacks to an FCS team this year. I agree with Shab, if we lose this game Albin might just be launched from a trebuchet into the Hocking River at the end of this year.

An article I read indicated that Irons would be mobile for the first time in about three weeks, so that might cut down on the number of sacks. He apparently had orders to stay in the pocket to protect his injured leg, which is now apparently healed.

Statistically two of the worst defenses in the country. So I'd assume this will end up a 20-17 type game.

This is a predication thread, so whose got the 20? OHIO or Akron?

I think the good guys will prevail and it will be higher scoring than that. I was just hinting that usually, when fans and talking heads predict a shootout, that's when a defensive slugfest ensues.

Hopefully Akron.

If we lose this game it will officially be basketball season and the end of year 2/4 for the failed experiment that is Coach A.

Contract release or not the university is probably going to keep our amazing coach. We gotta do our part to keep the MAC---the Mediocre Athletic Conference.
