they also brought thomas back from PUP list and signed 2 TE from waivers/FA so lots of movement in the tight end room. will probably keep three on roster.

They are only keeping Thomas, Bates and Turner. The battle is for practice squad. One other may be on the roster until everyone is fully healthy.

Armani Rogers got $67,500 in guaranteed money, he has a good shot to make the practice squad.
It takes time to learn a brand new position and get traction in the league, but it is definitely possible and the Commanders are trying to catch lightning in a bottle again with Armani Rogers, who got a guaranteed $67,500 when he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent.

The athleticism is clearly there for Rogers, who set the record for the longest rushing touchdown by a quarterback in NCAA history.

Against the Ravens he was targeted once, caught it for six yds. Crossing my fingers that he at least makes the practice squad.

Rogers makes 53 man roster - Team currently carrying 5 Tight ends - so things not done yet. Each day's a hurdle. Congrats though today

Commanders historically use TEs. McClaurin, Samuel, Dotson at WR. TEs will be very valuable, all four or five. Special teams will be another way he will see some action.

If they see their TE position as lacking the depth of other teams as I thought then it is interesting that they kept 5 after their cut down. Maybe they don't see it that way. But if they pick up a TE then you have to think he will at least be on the practice squad.

Which of those guys are healthy?

I one point WFT was down to their SIXTH string TE.

he’s fourth or fifth on the depth chart depending on which one you look at. The first three are all coming off injuries. Rivera recently said he hopes 2 of the 3 would be ready for the opener. they may hold on to all five until they are all healthy and then transfer one to the practice squad. they do like to run H back as well (and Rivera also likes a full back) so maybe they can cobble together a package for Armani that would keep him active. Biggest threat is a couple of experienced TEs came on the market today (e.g.,OJ Howard). The experience of their current TEs 1-4 —— 3 rookies and a second year guy.

This is awesome! He should be getting a bit more than his initial contract of $67(k) give or take a few hundred dollars.

Very excited. I've been hearing rumors he is there until the top 3 are fully healed and then to the practice squad. This is really big since he is so new at the position. Congrats Armani!

In the meantime he might have a chance to show what he can do, which means if he does well enough someone might pick him off the waiver wire if Washington decides to put him on their practice squad (as I recall he has clear waivers before going to the PS). That would be good, too.

$705,000 is his contract for this year, which is the rookie minimum. His only guaranteed money is the $67,000 he got as a signing bonus.

A good sign for Armani:

Washington Commanders
@Commanders
We've made the following roster moves:

- Signed LBs David Mayo and Jon Bostic
- Placed RB Brian Robinson Jr. on the the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List
- Placed TE Curtis Hodges on the Reserve/Injured List

And if he ends up on practice squad it’s a $11,500 per week salary. money is nice. but most important for him is to be able to get reps monday - fridays. as mentioned above, talk is they will hold into 3 TEs once (if?) they are healthy. hopefully a vet won’t get cut from another team and screw up the situation (OJ Howard was a possibility as was the guy cut in NE). Few appreciate it’s an ongoing battle. wishing him further luck and success. Practice squad continues to be an apparent/great safety net for him.
