Neither WMU fan forum appears to exist anymore. Same with the Kent State forum listed a few weeks ago.

Bronco Stampede still exists. You have to click into the football forum. I changed the link so it goes straight to that forum.

WMU is 120th on offense and 74th on defense. Where Kent had a passing defense ranked 116th, WMU's passing defense is rated 81st. Ohio's passing game is 8th in the country at 334 yards.

Just took a look at Bronco Stampede, they are in meltdown mode -- separate threads on firing the AD and firing the football coach. Hope the Bobcats can add to the consternation.

Here the bar anymore is 6 or 7 wins for a good regular season. That gets the team into a bowl and presents well on the recruiting trail. Three other teams in the MAC East are going to have the same success in a given year. Then an occasional 3-9 bogey year is ok.

If you think about that TA has a decent chance of 1) wining 6+ this year and keeping his seat. 2) winning 6+ next year as Kurtis is back as a Sr. 3) Completing the 4 year contract w/ extension. Moderate success can help TA load up on defensive transfers to possibly win the division in 2023. Its not implausible.

Unless we have a boatload of injuries from here on out, I think we’re going to have to get used to the idea that Albin may be around for a while.

Correct
The way he is going some P5 team might have a starting QB spot for him next year as long as they don't expect him to run all that much. Even under the old rules he might have transferred. He redshirted so it is easy to think that he may be graduating this year.

This line opened at WMU favored by 3. It has already moved to zero. Vegas implied predicted score is 30-30.

Seems that’s the growing trend on this board, even beyond the defund football crowd.

I doubt that many of us were pleased with TA being elevated, however, we really had no choice based on the timing of Franks retirement. Thankfully TA was only guaranteed 2 years. With year 1 at 3-9 year 2 needs to show big improvement, AKA, a winning record for him to stay on.
We stand at 3-3 with 6 games left, so TA needs to go 4-2 just to have a winning record.
We can start the countdown on Sat.

I expect Julie Cromer doesn't know exactly how many wins it takes because that isn't going to be the only criteria. Let's not be arrogant and think that we know what the people in charge of this decision are thinking. But let's also be realistic an recognize that coach firings rarely blind side the media, boosters, and fans. The people widely thought to be on the hottest seats usually are the guys that the athletic departments end up letting go. Not always but certainly usually. I think that we can agree that Albin's seat was probably quite hot coming into the season. I hope that almost everyone would concede that at the mid point of the season his fate is still likely very much up in the air and still dependent on what happens the remainder of the season

Most of us have witnessed college football for years and often decades and we do have some feel for the norms of how these things play out. I think that its pretty reasonable to think that if Ohio has a winning season that he is quite likely to be back and that if Ohio finishes with 3 or 4 wins that he is quite likely to be gone. I also think that from what I know of Ohio University and of Albin's contract that he isn't likely to be fired until the season is over and if he is kept for 2023 that under most results he would be probably kept as the head coach in 2024 as well. I am not arrogant enough to think that I know any of these things but I don't think that this is speculation made in a vacuum either.

And please don't count me among the people who are rooting against him as a result of this comment. He has been here a long time and, from what I hear, the players like him. I definitely don't want his tenure to end like that.

Hmm. WMU is apparently #12 in the MAC in total offense, and #11 in passing offense. Meanwhile Ohio is #12 in total defense and passing defense. What happens when the movable defense meets the stoppable offense? I have no doubt Ohio will score some points, but I have no idea how much improvement the defense will make. I will call it Ohio 38, WMU ????

If there's one difference between our board and theirs is our trust in the AD's to make the right call. Nothing has indicated that we'd get sent down the river by Cromer or Schaus for the better part of a long time. Whoever pulled the trigger on the design of Albin's contract was clutch, and if it works out, groovy. If not, it's no worries and zero buyout.

Winning at WMU would go a long way to flip the script for Albin. A win puts them 4-3 and 2-1 in the MAC with BGSU, Miami and UB still to play. This game might boost the locker room giving them something to play for like East title and bowl eligibility. This is a swing game that makes or breaks the season. They made have chance break even in the MAC and the season. I think that might save Albin as the 6-6 is a huge improvement from 3-9. Big game for Ohio. These are the 50/50 games good coaches have to win. WMU isn't a great team this year. Neither is Ohio, but this is an opportunity to show we have turned a corner.

Give Cromer credit. When the Frank news was thrown in her lap in July, she reached out to a number of AD friends, including the AD at a Power 5 institution, for advice. Her approach to the contract was based on that outreach.
