Last year, all games not televised were available as webcasts by the conference. It was $7.95 per game. Not sure if they'll do the same this year, the schedule hasn't been updated for 2010.

You can keep checking in here or at this link: https://www.nmnathletics.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?&&DB_OEM_ID=9400

Would it be possible for OU to broadcast all home football games, much like they did last year with Basketball? If so, that would be awesome.

I want to say this cannot happen becuase of the conference rules set forth by the MAC. They control all television rights when it comes to football but do not when it comes to basketball. As the above guy said they cover the football games because I would assume there are only so many every weekend, whereas basketball has a ton throughout the week and weekends.

Funny though because in my opinion OHIO's quality posted online is considerably better than that the MAC uses for football (some of the games). Hopefully the MAC has invested some more money for this season!

I think I recall anorris saying the equipment used for the basketball broadcasts is rather difficult to transport between the Convo and Peden, so unless another system is purchased I don't think it'll happen.

personally, i actually like seeing volleyball on the internet stream. i know i will be watching this fall.

i get Russ for football anyways.

High Street Hooligan was correct, because the MAC has the MACess in football we aren't allowed to stream those games for free online. Really a shame but that's what we get for being in a poorly run conference.

Just to confirm the above, it is a rights issue.  The conference warehouses the rights for all football games to put them on their streaming service, but they do not do this for basketball, which is why we can stream them.  As for moving the system, they're pretty much streaming a camera plugged into an iMac for basketball and volleyball, so it's pretty mobile.  However, one camera for football is much more difficult to get away with, and doing a proper multi-cam webcast is far more expensive.

hey guys, still working on trip up to athens for the game. i had asked in a previous post bc (before crash) about accomodations near stadium. several replied with suggestions but i did not write them down. could i please get that info again? there was a property or two that were near the downtown area, bars and stadium. that would be great.

thanks!

Crabby,

http://ouinn.com/

Not the cheapest. But very nice, and the most convenient to the stadium (5 min walk) and uptown(bars, 10 min walk).

Now I know some of the other hotel operator(s) are Bobcat supporters... Or were... I'll do a little research for 'Bobcat Friendly' for next time.

Hope you can make the trip.

If you want to walk to the game, OU Inn is your best bet (or only option, frankly).  If you'll have a rental car, the Hampton, and Holiday Inn Express are both quite nice, and just a couple miles from the stadium and uptown, probably about a 5-10 minute drive.

If you stay at the OU Inn, make sure you check out how to negotiate a roundabout before coming to town.  We, the noble citizens of Athens, are now the proud owners of the newest roundabout in the state of Ohio (one of about a total to ten, at last count).  This is not a traffic circle, but a true European style roundabout.  They are great and do save time if you know how to use them, which unfortunately most Americans don't.  I'm predicting a huge traffic jam on game day as people who've never seen a roundabout try to figure out what they are doing.  A friend of mine wants to set up bleachers for people to watch the fun!

Roundabouts are scary. the concept is terrific, but you either spend an inordinate amount of time behind somebody who clearly doesn't get the concept, or you live in fear of the jackasses who seem to think they have the right of way because they are coming from the busier street.

I really hope it works as that intersection has been a drag on game day and rush hour traffic for years but I also wonder what will happen if an accident occurs and ties up all three lanes? Bleachers would be good. Will their be a retaining wall and screen fence ala NASCAR?

Is the idea that before a student can graduate they must be able to successfully negotiate the roundabout?

x2 and if their beer cheese soup is on the menu thats a must have too. Hope you get a chance to experience Court Street either Friday night or Saturday night, or both. Going to Athens and not experiencing the nightlife is like going to a steakhouse and ordering a salad.

Have fun.

In order to avoid being designated a "jackass" by Deciduous Forest Cat, I may have to start taking the Stimson exit on game days...

Crabby, there's nothing in Spartanburg to prepare you for the awesomeness of Athens.  I've been to a Wofford game before. Bring your A game and come thirsty.
