Curious to know the run defense averages of those years compared to 2022 team.

Anyway, hope history is on OUr side tonight!

My guess is that this game will be even enough that the team that wins the battle of turnovers will come out on top. Both teams have been winning the battle of turnovers. In four MAC games, Buffalo is +8 turnovers combined (+1 EMU, -1 Miami, +3 BG, +5 Toledo), while Ohio is also +8 (+2 Kent, +2 Akron, +4 WMU, +0 NIU).
Sounds like somebody is due for a clunker.
That "clunker" is going to come from Buffalo. I expect this game to be a competitive one. I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio ran away with it, but I fully expect Ohio to jump all over Buffalo early, build a nice double-digit lead, then keep Buffalo at bay the rest of the way, cruising to a relatively easy 7-10 point win. I have no concerns about Buffalo. Until they prove they can go on the road and win in Athens, which they have failed to do in nearly 15 years now, I'm not buying anything they're trying to sell with that program. Even with arguably their best team ever that last visited Athens in a big game, they got bushwacked. They came in pounding their chests and simply got their teeth kicked in. They haven't been tested like this in the MAC this year. Ohio's not going to play dead like BG and EMU, won't fall apart in crunch time like Miami, and isn't going to choke like Toledo. Tonight they'll get a healthy dose of the MAC East champ and will head back to that drab campus with a loss that will keep them from stepping foot in Detroit in December.
While I think that we have about a 50/50 chance to win I put almost no stock in the fact we won games in Athens against them 10 years ago as being a huge benefit to us. None of those players are on either team now. Tennessee couldn't beat Alabama because they didn't have the horses. When they finally did history was irrelevant. I don't understand why history would be hugely significant. Just like I think that the fact that we haven't won the MAC since 1968 is not a huge albatross that will prevent us from winning the MAC in 2022. If we have players and coaches that are among the best in the conference we have a chance. If we play our best and catch the right breaks we can win it - 1968 be @$!#.

Let us not forget that the 2020 season Buffalo would have destroyed us while instead we chose to throw in the towel. So the 5 game streak was broken.

You could not hardly ask for a better start. I'm going to stay in the chatroom for a while and see if anyone else pops in. This is a good night to try to get it going.

Holy hell, we might be good. Kurtis Rourke is a solid quarterback and Wiglusz is an amazing find. Anything I have said critically, I'm willing to eat crow. What a fun start.

Far from over but a great start. Have to keep the "0-0" quarter mentality and finish strong.

Hopefully watching Toledo film, they know they have to keep their foot on the pedal. And coach can't get conservative in the 2nd half.

Go Cats!

That 2008 game sucked. Sleet and tiny crowd. Boo fumbled like five times and James Starks of Packer fame ran silly.

That seemed like a terrible unnecessary roughness penalty on the tackle of the wide receiver.

These next 2 series are very important. At 17-3, a touchdown will demolish Buffalo's confidence. Make it 24-3, and then get a 3 and out and they'll quit (especially if we can score FG or another TD).

24-3 with a 3 and out. Scoring before halftime is a must. Time to destroy their confidence.

That was stupid coaching.Run the ball and end the half.

And that is what happens when you play stupid football.

Yep, not too tough to figure out running out the clock and getting the ball to start the half up 21.

Big time drops from Bostic (twice) and Cross.

Was it against Akron we got the ball with 40 seconds before halftime and went down and scored. No problem trying to throw and convert. Bostic has to be stronger and win that catch. On top of that, Wiglusz needed to field that punt, penalties hurt, and then the shank punt.

These next twp drives after the break are crucial.

Special teams continues to be a big weakness. Kickoff return to the 16, and a 20 yard punt both hurt.

Gonna be interesting to see if that last minute and a half is a complete change of the momentum of the game.

Yep, LC, has anybody ever heard of fair catching the ball and getting it on the 25? Not running it out of the end zone? Not this staff.

KO return from 2 yards deep in end zone. Plus Wilguz not fielding the punt late in half.

Shaba were we on the 12 yd line vs Akron? It is situational football.

Another kickoff into the endzone that we run out and only get to the 16. Geez.

Still, there was a lot more good than bad in that first half. I will take another half just like it.

Meltdown continued, started with stupid end of half decisions, and have now continued.
