I am not really sure, but if the team is bad on offense and bad on defense, that probably makes them a bad team.  I cannot believe how weak our offensive line looks.   I am pretty sure I could suit up at QB and find McRae or Goulet a couple times each game.  I thought we just didn't see much against Wofford because the game was in check.  It turns out there just isn't much to show.  That was really painful to watch tonight.  Anyone want 13 tickets to OSU game?  I am not excited about making the trip next Saturday.

What do you mean you're not excited?  Apparently you haven't been reading this message board.  We, the team that lost to Toledo at home, are going to upset the #2 team next week.

With the offense I saw tonight, my original prediciton of 3 TDs may be optimistic.  Of course, I will get ridiculed for having common sense and saying this....

Ozcat...you are not helping.  Please refrain from speaking.  If you are going to be so negative about our chances why are you even going???  If you think that we suck so bad why do you bother with this?  Yes tonight was bad football.  Yes the OSU game might suck.  But we will still cheer them on because there is always a chance.  I refuse to believe that any game is written in stone.  The rest of the world didn't even give the Bobcats a thought during basketball season when we went up against Georgetown despite their superiority and cheered the heck out of our lungs for them to win and they managed the impossible.  We probably will not beat OSU, but there is always some chance.  I was disappointed tonight.  HOWEVER, come next week I will be shredding my voice for them and if they win then life will be good.  If they lose it will be a disappointment but also not a terrible one.  The way you talk you need to take a good long hard look in the mirror and decide if you really are with the Bobcats or not.  As for me, no matter how disappointing things will get I will bleed green and white till there's nothing left to bleed.

Offense wasn't good. However, I can't find a single thing to blame the defense for on this. With the field position they had to deal with, they did everything in their power. Toledo would have put up 40 against most MAC Defenses with field position like that. They're the only reason we were even in the game tonight. This defense is going to win us some games this year. I still think we go bowling, but it's going to be a tough year.

I still have faith.  I'd rather us find the kinks now and work them out rather than discover them late in the season.

I'm going because my Bobcats are playing and I have OSU season tickets.  Though I sell most of my games, I will not be missing this one.  As anytime WE play OSU, I will be adamantly rooting for my Bobcats.  Let's hope Boo plays much better than he did a few hours ago.

you're off base in saying the defense is bad. Look at their stats after 2 games-

161 yds/gm rushing
55 yds/gm passing
216 yds total/gm

15 pts/gm

Longest pass- 24yrds

Longest run- 20yds

Turnovers- 5

Of the 4 touch downs allowed, 2 of those drives were 5yds or less.

How is that a bad defense? The Toledo loss was bad, and the offense is concerning, but let's give credit where credit is do.

I would like to agree.  Defense was actually good.  Had the offense capitalized on the 2 interceptions we would not be infuriated right now.  Their offense managed to score only 3 times out of all the drives they had.  OUr defense performed well but unfortunately defenses can only do so much in a game when the offense can't get rolling.  We had so many chances yet we didn't capitalize.  We will bounce back.  Like I said I'd rather us find the kinks now and smooth them out rather than discover them late in the game.

Missed it since I had to host an event.  But someone on this board was kind enough to send me p.m.'s.  Here's my analysis.

Worst loss ever.  Given the expectations.  We stink.  We knorr.  At least with Knorr, sad as it was, after a while it wasn't a surprise.   For crying out loud, we lost to Toledo.  Toledo stinks.

This season is O V E R.  Why am I flying in to go to the game in Columbus?  Who cares.  We're going to get annihilated (sp?).  Before tonight I mentioned to a few folks here in California that I'm flying in for the game.  And after we creamed Toledo I was gonna drop that cool word on a few more folks.  Now, I won't mention that I'm flying in to see us play in columbus to anyone.  We're on track to lose by 45 points.  Or more.  Except that our defense will compete.

I was right.  Our offense, allegedly, wasn't there v. Wofford (13 points by the offense during 3+ quarters) and Toledo would be the first test for us.  We had to win tonight by a thumping 25 or more.

We stink.  We could win the next 10 in a row and it wouldn't erase tonight.

Most disappointing loss ever.  Gawd, we lost to mighty Toledo.  I am pissed off.  I spend way too much time on this board because I love my Bobcats and have had faith in them.  My work is insane so this is my relief spot,, my instant moments away vacation.  I'll try to withdraw.

Ozcat--you're an ass.  Go enjoy your ohio state tickets and leave this place alone.

I'll retract my criticism of the defense (somewhat).  Statistically, they are OK.  They have a knack for not getting the important stops, though.  There were some 3rd downs that UT coverted that were really untimely.  Maybe, from the stands, it just looks like they are worse than they actually are.  I still stand by my assessment of the offense.

I am also not enjoying Ozbuckeye right now.  You are digging yourself a huge PR hole on this site right now.  Everyone understands OSU is the better team.  Constantly playing Kirk Herbstreit is plain annoying.  Quit it.

With the offense continually giving Toledo a short field the defensive play was definitely the strong part of our game with the exception of that late TD throw. The offense was abysmal. Evidently their pass defense was too good for us to throw down the field. Even if the line could not pass block we should have been able to jet block, roll out and throw down field. Starting Bates next week becomes an easier decison to make, don't you think?

Wow...statistically 161 yards rushing per game after wofford and Toledo???    If we had monsters on the d-line neither of those teams get 75 yards!  I say again...we need more size and strength up front!

Monroe, please remember this is football and the other team will have their say about the game. Sometimes they don't get the memo that they are to lose. Look at Kansas these past two weeks. Give the team a chance to sort this out.

As much as I feel like the sky is falling this is a good point.  Our biggest hope is that the coaches can figure something out just like Gil Turner did in changing his QB and RB.  So I will give them 1 or 2 weeks to show some improvement with our offense, after that all bets are off.

Oh? Shocking revelation. Sad to hear that you are being forced to attend a game that has been circled on everyone's calendar since the game's announcement.

I really do not think this team is that bad, they are pretty much what I thought they would be at this point.  I do expect them to get better, and I do expect them to be in the hunt in the MAC East.

I am being sarcastic.  I will still watch every game live except EMU and Temple.  We will pack up the van and go to Columbus, Huntington, Oxford and Kent (unless we go to Vegas for hoops tourney) just as we planned at the beginning of the season.  I don't think it's possible for a Bobcat team to play poorly enough to run me off.  I sat through the entire Lichtenburg Era, so losing to Toledo is nothing.  If I don't go, I run the risk of missing that great moment.  I hope Saturday is that moment.

Typical over reactive window jumping...

OUr D will be even more dominant than they have been to date as we go along...This will be the strength of the team.  The rushing yards credited to Wofford should be expected.  We of all fans should understand that a triple option team can put up numbers on the ground game in and game out.  And as others have mentioned you have to look at the spots they were put in against Toledo.  This is a solid solid unit and it will show moving forward.

OUr O suffered at the hands of the O Line.  If we can coach them up and bring up a little more dependable depth we'll be fine.  Not to mention this can be schemed around with roll-outs.  Our talent at Wide Receiver and our dual threat QB's will shine.  For crying out loud...Temple (The "strength of the East")  needed OT to beat a completely depleted CMU squad at home.

As for the OSU game...If any of you had seen the determination in Boo's eyes when this was brought up, you'd remember (just like in years past) OUr guys can't stand the ego of the red and pewter any more than we can.  We have nothing to lose in that game.  The D WILL stand their ground...We just need to get Boo or Phil in positions where they have choices outside of the pocket (and for the LOVE of all that's Holy we need to erase the false starts!)

I agree that the team looked terrible.  But, the biggest problem Saturday was turnovers.  We don't turn the ball over, we win.

I think the program knows its very limited on offense and we in  mode of very conservative play calling and trying to keep it close and win 14-10 or with great defensive and special teams and some TDs from defense or special teams.

I feel for Boo Jackson.  Pre-injury he wasn't the most accurate guy, but he had an arm.  He looked like someone stole his mojo.  The whole offense did.  The offense just looked like a group that knew they weren't going to be able to do much.  Not good.
