...OL, I thought the coaching staff stated we were in better shape this year.

I certainly thought they would be. After all, at one point they were expected to have 9 returning linemen who played 65 or more snaps last year. In the end it turned out to be four, due to homesickness, grades, and injuries. Thus we ended up with a very young line. The good news is that they should get better as the year progresses.

I get the frustration after a tough outing like yesterday's.

I didn't see any quit in our guys, despite being outplayed ... by the #2 ranked team in the country.

Joe, I so agree with you (except not necessarily on the part of your comment I've discreetly replaced with an ellipsis).

Other than Rufus' buffoonery, there wasn't cause for embarrassment or humiliation.  Lordy, Ohio State is better than a very good football team (though it sickens me to have to admit it).  And to your point, OUr guys did not quit.  They were gracious and respectful. No helmet wielding or lippy nonsense. I'd dare say, probably more mature than many of us tend to be. Heck, I turned the game off ... TWICE! If that isn't the equivalent of helmet-flinging immaturity, I don't know what is!

So I say, "Go Bobcats!" And "Go Buc..." Gads, I can't say it.

Wanamaker, your rigidity, your shoring up the sides of the box is truly impressive.

I think recruiting is better, that OUr guys never quit, and that the O-line will get better and better this year.

A look at the tox score tells me something about who we might feature more at the running back position.

What is a tox score?

Please stop saying there have not been impact QBs, I invite you to check the Ohio record book for the top QB stats to see who the record holders are. Please do not short change Chris Garrett, Chris was 1st team All MAC as a kick returner, he was in impact player at Ohio. Being the RB in Ohio's spread does not lead to 1st team RB. About your statement about recruiting improving, please check the recruiting tab, when have you ever seen suck recruits committed to Ohio in Sep?

Being the top QB in the Ohio record book doesn't make you an impact recruit. We've been horrid for 40 years, so having one good statistical season during a 4-8 campaign doesn't mean that our QB recruiting overall has been above par. It hasn't been.

Chris Garrett was a nice player, but not an impact player for the offense, which is what I'm talking about. As for our recruiting, I don't see an appreciably higher level of recruit committing this year than what we've seen in recent years, although I haven't studied the players closely. Even if we are attracting slightly better prospects this year, you have to keep in mid we've been in the middle to bottom half of the MAC in recruiting generally under Solich, so that improvement is still relative.

Flomo, you wish to argue about Ohio's recruiting and label it substandard yet you acknowledge you don't study it closely. Sir, I am going to leave yo to your opinions. I am enjoying this team this year, I have seen lots of hard work and know there are better times ahead as hard work is rewarded. Sometimes there are disappointments, but, these are good coaches that know how to coach and win.

The recruiting has without doubt been better under Solich than Knorr. Take a look at the QB and WR positions and the depth provided there. Also the lineman now have legit D1 size. Ohio has the pieces in place. The program needs a guy to walk in here like Devine at WVU. Imagine if Devine was playing for us last season when we played Marshall. Do you think we would have come back against Marshall, absolutely. He probably would have been enough to beat Kent and Tennessee. A player like that turns a 9 win team into a 12 win team.
