Not really. I'm 2-1. I think I was last year at this time as well.

Nope!  3-0 so far, and fear I might have the next one right, as well (also noticed you and I matched up pretty close -- only Buffalo different, and I think that one might well be a coin toss).

I'm 4-0 with my picks now. My second guessing comment was directed more towards people  with foolish predictions.

Unhappy about being 4-0 so far, but hope second part of prediction is also accurate!

Who predicted that we'd go with an option/run offense out of the pistorl with 3 or 4 receivers?

I am second-guessing both the losses I have in for Temple (overrated) and Miami (I thought this would be Ohio's slip-up for the season, and that Miami would be surprisingly decent.  The theory looked plausible after Miami played Florida well in week 1, but seems less likely after subsequent games especially since Ohio used its mulligan vs. Toledo).  I'm also second-guessing the win over BG.  BG rang up 44 pts against Marshall, granted turnovers were a lot of the story but still that game scares me.

I think its a case of people heavily overrating players, especially in the offensive backfield.

Let's take the projections of the top 2 at each position and see where they are now:

QB-Boo Jackson-injury.
QB-Phil Bates-can't throw in a game like he does in practice-(see offensive line)

RB-Kenny Ashley-AWOL
RB-Donte Harden-Suspended

WR-Lavon Brazill-Injured/Suspended
WR-Terrance McCrae-Successful-but would be better if we had a more effective QB.

That's 1 outta 6.....it's not overration (thank you W. for the word) it's elimination.....and for the 4 backfield guys it's a combination of things.

We judge people on what they've done in the past....when they're injury ineffective or just not there well....you get the picture.

Whoa!  Boo was injured all last year, that is NOT information no one had.  Some here also stated all along that Phil couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, OL has been an issue from Day 1, not a secret revelation.  Kenny Ashley was gone well before these picks, Brazill has been in and out of the dog house so if you've been counting on him you've been asleep at the helm.

That being said this team is getting ready to get on a roll.

Doc, its true you can judge people on the past. However, a majority of those players had significant question marks before the season even started. A majority of posters on BobcatAttack then chose to ignore those red flags and just assumed we were going to win 9+ games in the regular season. We are now 4 games into this season and even more question marks have come into play.

Well JC....you need to start your own sports magazine as Phil Steele had Brazill projected all MAC......gosh we all heard I guess that Boo would never be able to throw again like he should....and we still have people on this board asking about Ashley.

It's not asleep at the wheel...it's just you being so smug and arrogant that you have inside info and you rub it in everyone's face.

Let's see...here's JC's mag prediction:

OHIO

Rough year for the Cats as I predicted them to be a bottom feeder.  The O-line sucks with young guys who won't get any better during the year.

Of course everyone knows Boo is injured and Brazill will never play because he's always in the doghouse.

Bates can't throw....why do you think he lost the QB job at ISU....and as far as running backs remember.....they only have 2 on a scholly.

And your prediction was what?

Actually I have less inside Athletics information than several on here, I simply pay attention, and stay for the most part pretty consistant (unlike you who had us at the top, then we suck, and so forth).  If you are going to hang your hat on Phil Steele than WOW!  That guy has had us picked 1st we finished last, had us last we finished 1st, he spends less time on MAC Football than I did on my Econ Textbook in College.

You go from calling me "Debbie Downer", but you are the one singing the Blues.  We are 0-1 in MAC play and have destiny in our own hands at this point.  This team is fine!

And yes, I did say the running game would be a struggle from day 1....Was I wrong?  I did state we will start the year with two scholarship RB's after spring practice, was I wrong?  I did note that Phil couldn't win the QB job at one of the worse schools in BCS play, was I wrong?  I have said from Day 1 the O-Line has potential but not there yet, was I wrong?  Facts Doc, don't let them get in your way!

Facts Doc, don't let them get in your way!

Predictions aren't facts.

Phil Steele had us first last year.....he doesn't this year.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it or do whatever you want to with it.

If we ever get those Rufus shirts made I'll send ya one.

Doc, what were your expectations from our offensive players prior to the season starting? Were they as high as posters that thought we had Montana and Young under center?

Offensively I thought we were OK last year.......this year 3 returning STARTING lineman......a  new center who was  supposedly adequate....and one position to be filled by possibly 2 seniors and a junior....all 3 who no longer are on the team because of injuries.

Yeah I counted on Ashley and Harden as RB's.....my bad.

I watched the spring game....Bates looked like he could throw and I guess I didn't pay attention to the severity of Jackson's injury.

But Jackson holds Ohio records in passing.....Brazil was touted as a pre-season All American....McCrae was a TD redzone machine last year.

How could you not have decent expectations......no one predicted an undefeated season (well some did)....but hardly anyone predicted a Knorr Year.
