A great win tonight.

Mostly praise for how the team was poised and prepared. Great line play most of the time.

3 things I noticed, first and foremost our D backs have to tighten their coverage and keep much better track of the ball. Severe breakdowns at times made the game much harder than it should have been.

Second, ESPN2  sure took their time getting to the game after the UConn Baylor women's game.

Third, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ESPN, do some research on the MAC and their teams and you will stop spreading misinformation and showing your ignorance. There were all sorts of half baked comments made by the announcers.
Also, why all the love for Temple??? After all, OHIO is defending their MAC East title!

All in all though I am smiling. One game at a time, three more to go!

GO BOBCATS!

Awesome game planning, awesome poise by the players, awesome showing by the lines on both sides, awesome all the way around.

AWESOME.

Is this the same team that lost 3 in a row, including a home game against Toledo?  No, it really isn't.

This is a really good team that has filled holes from some crippling injuries and played hard.  Now keep your heads together, guys, and TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS AT KENT!  I'll be there +2!

Go Bobcats!!!!!

It would take way too much time to remember and post each lame comment but several that come to mind were.....

After OHIO scored their 24th point one of the dim wits said something to the effect of "Temple has Ohio right where they want them"........... uh    ok.....

Also they said at least a dozen times that Ohio was tied with Temple and Fiami for the MAC East. Never once did I hear them say that we beat the redchickens. I don't think they knew or cared.

The one that got me was when they said that tonights game was the biggest game for OU in several decades or some such rot. Seems that they didn't know about two recent MAC East titles and two bowl games.

Just over all crap. Oh yeah, Ohio won because they played like Temple normally plays........ oh well......

I didn't hear them, either but they couldn't have been as stupid as i heard the Tony Bruno show on my way home from watching the game. He said "Miami is making it rain on Temple, tonight. Ohio is leading 31-17."

Yeah, what Football Jim, said.  And, let me add my favorite comment of all.  When we were ahead by a TD and Temple's offense was not doing anything, one of the announcers says and other agrees, "Temple is the better team."  The tone of voice was as if to say, well maybe Ohio is ahead on the scoreboard but this is obviously just a temporary thing!  More Eastern arrogance in my book.  Do you think we could trade Temple for Memphis in conference realignment?  Just wishing!

Oh yeah, GREAT GAME OHIO.   LET'S KEEP ROLLING RIGHT OVER KENT AND INTO A GOOD BOWL GAME.  LET'S LET TEMPLE GO TO THE PIZZA OR GODADDY BOWL.  I understand there may be some flexibility on this issue this year.

Haha, yeah.  They probably said 20+ times that we were running the ball like Temple normally does.  We were bringing the toughness like Temple normally does.  Perhaps Temple just hadn't played a team as tough as us (minus NIU).  Then I also remember them complimenting Temple about 8-2, and then they dissed Ohio because "They haven't beat anyone good."  Since, you know, Temple has played and defeated 6 top 25 teams.

They also kept saying that Ohio had won 8 road games in-a-row.  I'm not sure if they were leaving out some key piece of information, but it obviously didn't take a rocket scientist to know that two of our losses this year were on the road.  I'm guessing they meant conference road games?

Anyway, great win, and here's to finishing it off against Kent next week.  Hopefully Akron can pull off the upset tomorrow night against Fiami, but we need to win anyway.  A win next week would give us a shot at the first (right?) 11 win season in Bobcat history.

I loved how they kept gushing over the boy wonder Al Golden and how they talked about how he was a team captain when he played at Penn State, and if you're associated with Joe Pa then you must be great too, etc. Meanwhile, the coach standing across the field from him was also a star player for a powerhouse program, and has coached in a National Championship game. But this is ESPN, and East Coast Bias is the gospel, so...

does anyone think that espn really cares about MAC football?  My guess is they believe they're doing the league a huge favor by televising the games at all...

Did anyone experience this problem that I had............Multiple times the camera did not have the lens on the QB, instead it was on the line play and you had no idea of where the ball was since it was snapped to the QB from the pistol position?

Wish Bobcats had finished strong.  Seemed like a bit of a mental breakdown.

Nevertheless a very nice win in nasty conditions in an unfriendly environment.  GOBOBCATS

I bitched about the camera the whole game, The camera person was faked out on about every play, never hardly had the camera in the right place. very annoying.  ESPN2 failed big time on their camera operators.

That got me off my seat; what drivel from a talking head with no real analysis of the game.  Was he watching Butler/Louisville?  How the ^%$# was Temple the better team?  Was he talking about the legendary Stemple (as in Guido)?
Humph!
Damn, I did enjoy yelling for a change, though.

Since I usually watch the line play, I loved the camera work. That was where the real action was in this game anyway, and Ohio totally dominated in the trenches. Temple's QB had an outstanding game, while Boo had an off game, but the game was won up front.

LC spot-on analysis. 99% of all football games at any level are won by the team that wins the line of scrimmage. Temple may want to re-arrange that offensive line yet again, they got schooled last nite. The final score was clearly not indicative of the magnitude of Temple's defeat. Very impressive showing by the OHIO lines on both sides of the ball.

I'm with LC and Bobcat Sports. In person I watch the game via progression -- starting at the lines and working my way to the backfield or upfield depending on what I see. And, yes, we did quite well at the LOS vs. the Owls. I expect Kent State to be every bit as physical on both sides of the ball. As it turns out, I'm happy with the extra couple of days on the schedule -- should let anyone dinged up get better for the Flashes.

First game I've gotten to see in entirety, and came away with some questions/thoughts:
  • Posey seems to be the target of choice for QBs. Is he struggling overall?
  • Overall defensive secondary is a source of panic each time opposing QB drops back to pass.
  • Goulet had a particularly tough night. If I remember, he dropped 3 or 4 passes. Admittedly one of the passes he made a great adjustment to catch, but then dropped it. That ball would have given Ohio first and goal from about the 1. Was that just before half?
  • Our kick coverage was consistently awful last night. Our kicks didn't usually get beyond the 15, and our coverage didn't make a stop until near the 30.
  • Kick returns were also a little disappointing. We didn't really make anything happen.
  • Surprised by the quality of our offense last night. We seemed to really put drives together, and Boo is unquestionably a weapon--often making big yardage out of nothing. Can we win this game without Boo? In my opinion, that's MUCH harder.
  • Run defense was beautiful. That set the tone for the whole night.

All in all, we played a great game. These are just nitpicky comments.

Hi - just popping in to congratulate the Bobcats on their win last night, especially since you beat a team that was better than you.   I was rooting for ya, got a little worried at the end but it's all good.

I was also getting annoyed by the camera constantly being in the wrong place.  It happens occasionally in NIU games since our QB also does a good job faking the handoffs - but last night it was atrocious - unless they were purposelly trying to show downfield instead of the player with the ball.

I'd agree that ESPN didn't do their homework.  They also kept talking about Pierce being injured early in the game and that being a big deal, but didn't mention that Pierce has been injured a lot this year, I don't think he can stay healthy.  At least not this year.

Oh yeah, and them doing a basketball game wrapup after that game so the beginning of the football game was missed. Sheesh.

Camera crews are usually independent contractors who travel to shoot games, and not necessarily employees of the network.

KInd of like when I was the floor engineer for a few televised basketball games when I was a student and was compensated with leftover pizza and beer from the press room.

Yup.  Typically, though, the majority will travel with a given package (ie, the Tuesday 8pm game).  Lets face it -- the Tuesday night crew probably isn't an A+ crew.  Lots of weird switching errors in the game, too (half-cross-dissolved shots, etc.).

Also, welcome NIU.  I'm guessing if things fall as they seem they will, we'll be seeing you for the next couple weeks.  You guys have a very complete football team, from the games I've been able to watch.  If we do play, I think the teams styles should produce an entertaining game.

There will always be nit-picks about the camera work and coverage, though. For one, I wanted to see another replay of Davidson's long TD run from behind, so I could watch that magnificent hole open up. I thought I saw one of the best trap blocks I've seen in a long time, and I'd like to be able to call out the guy that sealed that hole open, driving a guy from right to left a good 5 yards, leaving no one in Davidson's way. When you run those trap plays into the line, and the defense is up close, gambling to shut you down, its all or nothing. When you get the 1 yard gain, everyone grumbles, but when the trap hits the right seam, and the RB pops through, its a home run.

RFox have to respectfully disagree with you on the kickoff situations last night. Those were MISERABLE conditions to be kicking in. Pouring sometimes driving rain and fluctuations of wind conditions all night. That the depth of our kickoffs were more than admirable in those conditions. I thought Hardin did a great job in kickoffs most notably NOT fumbling a wet ball. A few missed tackles on the kick coverages at times but again considering a wet field not bad and I thought as much as one could ascertain from the camera angles we maintained lane integrity pretty well all night.
