TOUCHDOWN FRESNO STATE WITH 12 SECONDS LEFT!!!!!
Yes, I was watching on ESPN3.   Great come from behind.  For awhile there I was seeing shades of the Humanitarian Bowl from last year, which they kept reminding us of.  Glad it didn't go that way.  Now, bring on Boise!

Life?  The Bobcats ARE my life.   If a game affects us in any way then that's part of my life too.

Sports teams you follow are like the spice to life. The bobcats have given me plenty of enjoyment this season so looking forward to seeing where we play in the post-season.

Fresno just got a TD. I guess we are in then.

Its not a lock but it very well looks like all 5 MAC teams will be bowling with one bowling each in the Las Vegas and New Mexico bowls. My guess is Ohio vs. Fresno State in the New Mexico bowl. There are some good story lines there since Tom Boeh was once the Ohio AD. Should be a winnable game for the cats.

I agree. There's been such negativity on this board - and deservedly so after their performance vs. Kent. But 8*4 still is a great season. Now we're going to get a weird bowl - it's exciting!

Good point. Remember getting ready to play Florida and Georgetown in the NCAA tourneys. You knew both games would be a struggle. And Pitt at Peden? Whouda thunk it? But sometimes great memories happen!

I love the idea of playing Boise State in the Humanitarian Bowl. Boise would feel down by playing in that game when they could have been playing for it all, and we'd feel lucky just to make a bowl after the crap-fest that was Kent State. They'd have nothing to win and we'd have nothing to lose. That's how upsets happen.

I disagree, Boise would be super high to prove that they are really as good as claimed. They will be ready to put up lots of points on anybody. Hope it's not us.

The Weird Bowl!!!

Great.....is that one in Alaska with Sarah Palin tossing the coin....sweet.

Let's wear our late 60's retro uni's.....maybe bring the old Cat mascot back to team up with Rufus in a sort of Hot Tub Time Machine feel....have Monroe and JC and Love as honorary captains.....cool.

Yeah, it is crazy that things could potentially work out better for us in terms a bowl match-up for losing. Just have to wait and see what happens. Playing against Fresno State would be interesting with being Boeh there not to mention the fact that they might have been the difference for us by beating Idaho.

Yeah, that's how it goes. It was a very ugly loss, but hey life goes on and the 'Cats gave us plenty to cheer about this season. Here is to hoping to for one more W to send these seniors out with style. And very exciting to wait to hear about our fate I have to agree.

Oh, and a konbanwa to you. heh (that's good evening)

Things look really good right now, but don't be counting on a bowl just yet.

There are exactly 70 bowl-eligible teams right now for 70 spots. Washington is likely to make it 71 next week, which probably would eliminate Western Michigan.

If Oregon State upsets Oregon, that probably would push another MAC team out. Maybe the same thing if Louisiana Tech upsets Nevada. I know those aren't likely, but stranger things have happened.

Middle Tennesee by winning at Florida International also could become bowl-eligible, but I don't think they would be a threat for taking a spot over an 8-4 MAC team, but who knows how the teams will fill in. Geography could play a part in selecting them.

Their are 5 at-large openings on the table right now; LCPB, New Mexico, San Fran, Las Vegas, Sun Bowl. A win by MTSU would have them filing in the LCPB. Lousiville would then be taking one of the western bowl slots, probably the Las Vegas. Ohio I think is still safe in this scenario in over Temple who would be out. They are really the least deserving losing their last 2 games.

I think Temple gets a nod ahead of us.  Fairness really doesn't have alot to do with it.  Its mainly about $ and Temple is in a big media market.  I hope we can squeak into a bowl but I am not very optimistic.

I'm not so sure it's about the media market per se.   To most bowls I think it's more of a matter of which team they think will bring more fans to the game, whose team travels better.

I dont think a 6-6 MTSU team with a 4-4 Sun Belt record gets an invite over an 8-4/6-2 MAC team.

I agree.  Also, MTSU will be about a 2TD underdog to Florida International, so they'll probably end up 5-7 anyhow.

As far as the MAC schools are concerned traveling out to a western bowl its all considered a toss up. If overall records are equal then its time to look at head to head matchups or the polls. Ohio is ranked #38 in the Harris poll this week while Temple is unranked. Ohio beat both Miami and Temple this season. Temple didnt beat a MAC school with a winning record. I would put Toledo ahead of Ohio with the LCPB connection and a victory over Ohio but not Temple.

I would think that Temple's rather easy win over Connecticut who may be headed to a BCS bowl would figure into a bowl's equation, plus they can talk themselves into Pierce being available to play and being a difference maker.
I hope this things don't count for much, but I have to say, if I were being objective, that if I were on a bowl committee, I would probably go with Temple when you add in the market advantage.

I would have to think the "what have you done for me lately" effect would kick in wouldn't it?  Uconn would beat Temple at this point in their season.
