Credit to Kent.  Now, given the circumstances I would have asked the OL to win this game.  They had the chance, they were our best chance, receivers were dropping the ball when it was in their hands.  Kent prevailed, credit Kent.  Last year they won when Ohio had Keller and LB on the field.  They did not fear Ohio, good game Kent.  I am a happy Ohio fan.  Would you rather be a Texas fan?  How about Boise?  This is football.  It is hard to win every road game.  Thanks Bobcats, players, coaches and staff, I am proud to be a fan.

Once again, people can point the finger at Albin all they want, but at the end of the day, it still comes back to Solich. Ever since Frank arrived in Athens, fans' complaints about the offensive playcalling at Ohio virtually mirrors complaints made by Husker fans when Frank was at Nebraska (where, notably, Albin did not serve as his offensive coordinator).

Earlier this year, I made the argument that poor offensive football has long been a hallmark of Frank's teams, and that until he did something to seriously break that trend, Ohio will never win a conference title. At one point, I was disagreed with because, as the person stated, I was just manipulating numbers and stats for my argument and, well, Frank's offensive stats aren't as high as they could be because he's a nice guy and not the kind of coach who runs up scores. Well, Ohio now ranks 94th in total offense and Frank "didn't run up the score" to the tune of netting 6 points against Kent. This is not coincidence - nor is it rocket science.

Having said all that, 8-4 is a good year, and this has been arguably Frank's most dominant Bobcat squad. The team should be congratulated for that, and the defense played solid football for much of the season.

Disagree.  The defense gave up a lot of points this year.  We didn't seem to reach our potential--any of the FATMAN, stupd cow and kents games were easily winnable.

We did lack star players, guys who could impose their will at time, guys the oppo had to account for.  Maybe Keller would've made a big difference.

I'm still waiting to see another defense like the 2006 team--good enough to keep us in every game and more or less win a few.

Monroe, how do you know what this teams potential is?  According to you we should have been no worse than 10-1 and with good coaching would have been 12-0.  To what do you base this fact?  You always blow hot air but rarely ever give any facts or reasons for said opinions.  In some ways this team over achieved in my mind.  We still lacked a solid running game, our best defensive player missed 80% of the season, we were still young and coming together up front, our return game was the worse it has been in years, mainly due to injury to a real dynamic player.

I keep hearing how difficult it is to recruit. Is it really that difficult to recruit a couple road grader type running backs? Seriously? Since Kalvin graduated we have been without a serious running game.
If it were so easy, Frank and Co. would be doing it! Stud RBs are not growing on trees. Frank was part of one of the most successful running attacks in CFB. He would love to return to his smashmouth roots.

Wanny, it's a silly point about how do I know this team's potential.  The answer is in how we performed this year.  What irks me is that we lost to three pretty mediocre clubs--FATMAN, stupd cow and kents.  Should we have won all three of those?  Probably not.  At least two?  Yes.

But whatever we did, a really mediocre redhawks won the MACC in a down year for the conference (aren't they all that type of year?) in which it was wide open for us to take it.

Also, Wanny, 'splain to me two things:  On NIU's last td last night, they scored on a long completion on a fake run play.  Who come we didn't try fake run stuff against kents given that they were stacked 8 in the box?  Coulda helped.  And, I forget who here posted it but he was right--after our first drive, which was fairly successful (we moved the ball) in which we used Bates some, why did we hardly go to Bates again all game?  (espec him and Boo on field at same time).

redhawk is the MACC winner.  can you believe that crap?

I really am weary of all the armchair coaches deciding what the team should have been able to do. Reality is these coaches and athletes have spoiled some fans. These spoiled fans seem to think Ohio has the athletes to call anything they would like and execute it because another team did it on another day against another team. I don't know what the team was dealing with and don't want to know. I do know some pretty good players were not themselves vs Kent. I also know these coaches and athletes have continued to improve Ohio football to the point it is unsatisfactory, in the eyes of some, not to be the division champions. The accomplishments of this team, given the losses to injury, exceeded my expectations. I have been excited by what these coaches do season to season adressing weaknesses. This team is getting stronger and stronger and I am happy to see nine wins followed by eight wins with returning starters in enough key places to expect another winning season which will lead to another chance to bowl. I am sorry that some will not be pleased with winning.
