speaking of academics- this whole thread is DUMB.

Agree 100%! Guy knocks his arse off for 5 years and these cats turn on him based on rumor and conjecture. This bunch of bananas won't wait for any facts to get in the way of jumping to conclusions and criticizing this young athlete who has given us so much enjoyable football. Great fans! This is non-BCS college football, folks. Enjoy the ride of our recent rise from the ranks of just plain horrible and maybe even above mediocrity! GO BOBCATS!

Actually he's only been here for 3 years.

I think maybe we shouldn't talk about his employability.  This is weird and kind of inappropriate.

I don't think it is weird - whether talking about tattoos, grades or off-field behavior, it all impacts a student’s marketability; which is ultimately the goal of all students (whether they are on campus for 4 years or…longer).  Additionally, all students (and employees) need to appreciate that in today's digital world, you are an open book, manage yourself accordingly.  He very much has over the long-haul.  Hate to see that potentially blemished, but he can control that message.  That said, I admit I was approaching a line re: appropriateness and will gladly pull back.  Here’s hoping he has (in this order) his academics in place to graduate, is eligible to play and plays well in leading us to a victory.

Boo has made his own bed, now he has to sleep in it... All the excuses in the world don't mean squat. ie- oh a form wasn't turned in at his internship... BS! Where is the accountability?  Oh well he may not play, but man is he a nice guy... wake up bit****
Yeah, he's a nice guy, but he's not a leader. A leader would have made sure his academics were taken care of before he recruited fans to go to the game. A leader would've been the first player on that bus...

T-Rodge,

You seem angry about Boo, did the potatoes leave a bad taste in your mouth?

It must have been something, but it didn't stop your sister from having seconds...lol. Yeah, I'm angry with Boo. Do I want him to play? Yes, more than anything. I'm sure I'll still have a blast in NO, but a bowl victory will be difficult to attain without OUr starting QB.
Yeah, I've been critical of Boo lately, but look at his last few weeks... the fight, the turnovers, now he's not even playing? Everyone on here has been so quick to have his back, which I do admire, but these excuses are beyond funny. Oh the weather was bad- anyone watch Tom Brady destroy the Bears, on the road, in freezing, snowing, and windy conditions? Oh academic services should have held his hand through his internship... Does anyone believe that his situation is HIS fault? Excuses are like a-holes, everybody has one.

I agree with you on the past couple weeks of his college career with us. Every does make excuses and has their own stories to what happens, thats why all of us are sitting here every night blogging back and forth to find out smoe truths, and lets face it, this site you can post a complete bogus lie and everyone will hop on and start making assumptions. Sad, but true. The last couple weeks Boo was in the headlines for nothing but bad things. The bar incident, where he got SUCKER PUNCHED trying to break up with the fight on the bouncers behalf, and a bouncer that did not have any care for what Boo was doing KNOCKED HIM OUT. Kent game: now there is no excuse for the way Boo played, yes the weather was bad, but lets face it, HE IS NOT TOM BRADY! Nor is anyone else in the MAC! Kents defense was well prepared for us and BOY DID IT SHOW! Our O-Line looked like pee-wee football players out there blocking eachother when the ball was snapped. And now this whole internship thing. Which to me NO ONE knows the full details on. Everyone is sitting in throwing their two cents in, some good others bad..., but no one knows. It is a shame however how people can sit there and not know what is going on and still say these things about him.

A lot of people have their own "sources" as do I and from what I heard it was a complete misunderstanding with the Academic Advisor and the Facility in which Boo worked in. Boo practiced throughout the week thinking he was heading to NO with the team, comes to find out, he is not going, and now they are working things out between the facility, the academic advisor and the NCAA. So I do hope everything works out for the best for Boo and he shows up in NO like he did with Temple and leads us to our first BOWL VICTORY!

Oh and another thing...sorry posting this one late, posting that Boo should have been more focused on his HOMEWORK/INTERNSHIP instead of recruiting students to come to the game on FACEBOOK....

I am pretty sure that Boo Jackson has over 2,000+ friends on his facebook page, and I know for a fact that he was able to advertise the great student deal better then the marketing office themselves! 9 bus fulls of students traveling from COLUMBUS CINCI and CLEVELAND to come to the NO! Not saying the marketing office did not do their job, but Boo did contribute to the spreading of this great opportunity! So as a fan I appreciate that Boo spread the word and made sure he updated his status whenever he was updated. And I am sure this had nothing to do with his internship by updating a simple status as

"And 9 bus full and 400+ students later...the tickets are officially sound out as of now for the $40 Student trip to the Bowl Game! Going to have GREAT FAN SUPPORT at our game!!! Really appreciate the Marketing Office for putting this together and whoever else help contribute to this. CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL ON FRIDAY AT THE HOTEL!!"

Even if Boo knew that he was not going on the trip, I am sure he still would have been doing this, just the kind of person he is!

Thank you Boo Jackson!!!!

Not again! Like previous years Ohio's quarterback situation is up in there air heading in to the bowl game. It's atleast worth mentioning that it's been like this in all three bowl games Frank has lead us to. In 2006 Austen Everson was injured late in the season and did not play much in either the MAC Championship game or the GMAC Bowl. If you remember; Austen tried to play in both games but only lasted a few series because of a high ankle sprain and we all know he relied on his legs more than anything. "Ace" was the unquestioned leader of that team and not somebody you want out in a big game. The final score was ugly but the Cats hung tough against Central Michigan that year trailing 17-10 at the beginning of the fourth quarter which isn't bad considering we got down to our third string quarterback (Josh Febus) after Brad Bower went down with cramps. I won't trash Febus but you're just not going to win many games with him at quarterback. Last year Theo sprained his ankle against Temple and wasn't 100% healthy for the MACC and you could tell he still wasn't the same in the Pizza Bowl. I'm not trying to sit here and make excuses but you can't help but wonder what we could do with a healthy quarterback situation in the post season.

Not an excuse; but the weather at Kent may have been Boo's first game ever playing in weather with wind chills in the 20's & 30's.  In fact I doubt it ever got below 60 during his HS and ELCON playing days.  There may have been a couple games in the 50's in 2008 but nothing like this year at Kent.  If you are experiencing your first ever real game in that weather I would think it would have an effect.  Then again; Tom Brady played all his college ball in tropical Michigan and now numerous years in tropical New England.  So I guess it was a proper analogy.

This thread is classic proof of two things:

1)  just because you can post doesn't mean that you should (can help to take deep breath; re-read and delete); and

2) what you post on the 'net is permanent and cannot be taken back/erased.

There have been so many posts on these threads attesting to Franshaw's good charachter that it is somewhat stunning to read some of the ranting here.

Also, I believe that Boo is from urban Los Angeles yet has come to enjoy, embrace and cherish little, old Athens.  Gotta love him for that.

Well, that's not entirely true.

And is also one of the greatest quarterbacks in football history.  Might as well compare me to Jim Courier.

Good job, Monroe.  Think back to a month ago when we were all concerned about Franshaw's physical well-being and opined how the game is secondary.  Now the wolves are out because he apparently has an academic problem, the nature of which has not been disclosed and which may be fixable (unless Solich is blowing smoke just to keep Troy off guard; doubtful, since they are likely preparing for Bates at QB anyway).  Granted, this is two off-field incidents in a month, but it's also just two in three years.  It's not like Shamari Spears at Charlotte who had 3 rules violations in two years and was dumped today.  Let's give Franshaw and Ernie the benefit of the doubt until more F-A-C-T-S are made public.

Evidently this team thrives on adversity, think back.  Should be interesting, heres hoping Troy thinks Ohio is headless and toothless. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Also, I heard, not from a credible source, that one of the Leftwich- sp? twins didn't make the trip either. This is total speculation and hopefully it isn't true. Anyone else heard this, or was I just too high at the CI last night?

T-Rodge. That you post to the internet about a player something that is not true reflects upon you. Qualify it all you want, say that you heard it from a not credible source if you want, but, you are the one that posted the crap to the world not your bad source. In the future we will have to take any and all of your information as not credible until verified. Good job.

Easy there killer, Given the recent turmoil within OUr program and the leak about some players not making the trip, I simply was trying to find out if it was true. That was my goal, that's all. I'm glad its not!!
Frankly, I could give two cares about what people think of my posts, after all I'm on BA to state my opinions and thoughts about OHIO sports. B2cat- you can take my info anyway you want to, but I won't be changing my personal posting policy anytime soon.
Oh yeah, "that I post to the internet or posted that crap to the world" well those statements are funny enough by themselves. Are you still using a dial-up modem to post to the "world"?
