BC Lions QB Nathan Rourke, who led the CFL this season in passer rating, is set to begin working out for NFL teams next week. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Rourke is from Ontario, played collegiately at Ohio, had a record 78.7 completion % last season, and now has NFL visits lined up.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter)
https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/15925612901021777...I had this conversation with a friend, but even if someone offers him a roster spot - I think he has to take it.
CFL isn't going anywhere. Even being the face of the CFL, which he is already becoming in his young career, unless Lululemon makes him the face of the mens line, I don't think Canadian brands can pay what even the NFL minimum is.
CFL had a $5M salary CAP last season. Average player makes between $60,000-$100,000.
Will be a tough decision to go from playing at an elite level in the CFL, to NFL 2/3rd QB... but the money should help. Would be incredible chance for him to see what he can do.
(PJ Walker is making $895,000 this season.)
