The Canadian Football League folks are very excited about Nathan’s amazing year. So far BC has only beaten also-rans. The big test comes this next week when they play Winnipeg again. If he keeps this up, the NFL will come calling. I don’t think anyone has draft rights for him so he could potentially choose the best opportunity.
Unlike most QBs that earned a chance in the NFL while playing in the CFL, Rourke is Canadian. He is set to make about $550,000 this year according to one site. All backup QB's in the NFL make at least a little more than that and some make 10 times that. But he is probably going to get a pay raise in the CFL. As he is becoming a very popular Canadian athlete endorsements might be coming his way as well which, I would think, would be less available as a NFL backup. I wonder what it would take to get him to jump to the NFL. One would think several million and a good chance at a starting quarterback position. Athens having ties to both QB's in Cincy is probably not a realistic possibility. Maybe if the Steelers think Pickett looks like a bust we might see Burrow vs. Rourke twice a year.
--- On a unrelated note if you are a fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers you have to be looking back at that cancelled 2020 CFL season and think that it was about as sure of a bet to a championship as football seasons ever get. We'll see if one-loss BC can do any better against 9-0 Winnipeg the second time around.
