The Fox will be back, and we will forget his anger.  So it is for Bobcat Nation.

Every single year is the same damn charade on this board. OHIO gets embarassed in the bowl game yet the same damn people get on here and say the same damn thing. Oh next year is THE year. We have allllll these great recruits coming in (and such great success of playing freshmen right away), so many great returners coming, despite the fact that we pissed our pants in all but one, maybe two games all year next year is OHIO is going to be the "it" team! What a joke. Once something changed internally then maybe I'll be more optimistic about a football program having post season success because something clearly is not working right now.

I will plead guilty to most of this. Every year for the last several years I have been saying that 2011 was going to be a very good year, and I am still saying that. Now the time is coming when that prediction will either be proven true or false. I guess we'll find out.

I also have been saying that the recruiting classes have steadily been getting better, and I still believe that. The 2006 class was probably the low, and the classes have been getting steadily better since then, and the 2011 class looks like it will be the best yet. Since most of those players won't contribute much for a couple years, that won't affect my prediction for 2011, but rather will affect where Ohio is in about 2014.

For me our success in 2011 will hinge on 3 things:

*  Not losing 6 offensive linemen before the season starts like we did this year.

* Finding an effective QB.

*Finding  a pass rusher.

If our offensive line and QB and D-line struggle then we are doomed.....just call me Nostradumbarse.

I think most people have forgotten the lose of Bunner, Davis, Pinder, Flowers, Laudermilch, and Carlotta from what should have been a very, very deep offensive line. The guys that were left did a fine job most of the season, but throw in a little extra depth, and maybe some of them could have actually taken time off to nurse injuries. I wonder how many of the front five were fully healthy by the end of the season?

Too your list of things you hope doesn't happen next year, you could probably add not losing your best offensive and defensive players. The losses of Brazill, Moore, and Keller were also not helpful to 2010. Really, when you look at the losses on the line, and to key players, 2010 could have been a lot worse.

Stuff will no doubt go wrong next year, too, but i remain very optimistic  about 2011. Any time you return all 5 starters on the offensive line, and all but one of the backups, that's a good start. Factor in a weak schedule and opportunity knocks.

36, and I have to join you. Hoops, not long ago, we weren't competitive on most any Saturday (or Tuesday or Thursday or Friday or whenever we played). Now we will be competitive almost any time we are on the field. By competitive, I mean we have the people to give us a chance to win if things go right. There were two dates on this year's schedule when we didn't have a chance if things went right -- OSU and Troy. We flat-out did not have the people to beat those two teams.

So what will next year be like? That we will be competitive -- at least, that's my take on it.

Foxy, sometimes you just have to resist hitting the "submit message" or "send" button.  I know it is easier said than done, but you just have to walk away from the moment -- maybe even punch the friggin' wall with a left and then a right, rendering your hands unable to hit the button. Then, by the time you've moved the mouse with either your feet or head, and tried three times unsuccessfully to click with your big toe, the pain in your hands has taken your mind off of how PO'd you are ... and you try to call 911 but you realize you are too injured to execute the call. To be continued...

You're exactly right, Cat4ever. And for about 14 years I've practiced that control. Saturday night I lost it. In the grand scheme of things, there is plenty to get riled about that ranks way ahead of a college football game. But it's the passion for "your team" that fuels an unreasonable rant. I am guilty as charged.

For the most part I've calmed back down. It's just a game. I'm not confusing my priorities. I will continue to support the team, the players and the coaches. I told my wife I would have reacted differently had we lost but played competitively. I believe that's true. It was the blowout aspect that sent me over the edge. That's not an excuse, just an explanation.

Here's to 2011.

I was at the game and I was more upset than a dog at the pound.
I was plastered must have dropped a hundred bucks on overpriced Superdome beer.
Afterwards I bought shots off of numerous sidewalk vendors along the streets.
I went to Bourbon Street for the first time in fifteen years since my Army days and I had to be dragged to the cab.
Needless to say I was upset.

I desperately wanted us to win our first bowl.

Then I remembered how I never would have dreamt this team to play for anything more then the Athens Co. Bowl.

Damn people we have a program and we expect this program to win that is progress.
GOD BLESS FRANK!!!
