I'm worried about an offensive identity next year. The Bates/Boo Switcheroo was just ridiculous, and if that is a regular feature next year, it's going to be horrific. I think we have to commit to an offense going into spring: either we're a pro-style team with Snyder at QB and Bates in for the OCCASSIONAL Wild Bobcat, or we hand the keys over to Bates and say, "Go make plays." It took way too long for the O-line to gel this year...that offensive identity needs to be established early so the big men can get in sync before the first game (yes, I know injuries were a big part of this problem, but the QB question last year lingered over it all).

Also, Roback as an H-back? Maybe? Just brainstormin'.

I want to echo what C Money said. This year I thought that having to choose between two quarterbacks was a nice problem to have. In hindsight it was bad stuff. Not sure who told me "if you have two quarterbacks, it means you don't have one", but they were right. Boo/Bates got us to the bowl, and for that I am thankful, but it's time to step forward from 'happy to be there' mode. Don't get me wrong, New Orleans was fun and all... But just think if we had that outcome in Boise or Detroit, where the whole trip had to revolve around football.. ugh

The only thing I'd differ with C Money on is give Roback a shot at QB before placing him elsewhere. I don't want to knock the redshirt process, but if we had a totally capable QB on the bench this year, count me a bit disappointed. I want to have high hopes for Snyder, but this year he would have been dismantled had he not been a scrambler. Tettleton isn't afraid to run as we saw his first year, but the throwing ability/accuracy is what is to be seen.

The standard of 'our team can't contain him in practice' worries me.  That was said of one of our quarterbacks before this season bu tthe on field results were not fabulous.

The positive about the schedule is that the three division games that figure to be the toughest -- Temple, Miami and Kent State -- will all be home games. Those are some pretty weak non-conference games, so it'd be disappointing if the boys couldn't go at least 3-1 during that slate.  (At least beat Marshall!  Between football and men's basketball, we're 0-4 against them in the last calendar year. Ugh.)

Lord knows that winning the division championship at least gives you a chance to win the conference, if we learned anything from watching Miami's luck in Ford Field.  Let's think positive and at least believe there's real hope to end the long drought of conference titles and perhaps get a first bowl victory.
