I like the positive thoughts. But if we make it to a bowl, we may still get blown out by a Sun Belt team.

If it was the same team as this year we would easily go 9-1... but losing the seniors we are losing there is no saying

It shapes up for another MAC East title run, 8-10 win season...Then pounded in the MAC Championship and bowl game again.

But we'll still have Keller and Moore on D, and Brazill on O, but with maybe no one who can get it to him.  And having Brazill back should help the return game, which has really been soft this year.

Until we see different results, this is most likely. Quite the pattern they've formed.

We need a reliable QB. period. (no knock on 5 and 8)

I'd be willing to go all SMU like and chip in to get a kid with a strong arm a gold tran am if it means we can take the field with confidence on offense. Why are we a running team with no running backs and NFL ready wide recievers?

Pretty sure we have two reliable qb's red-shirting this year. Only time will tell but I have heard good things.

Agree with this 100%. We don't have a FB to lead the way in a conventional running offense, and other than Boykin we don't have a power back, so we have to run from the spread. But running from the spread doesn't work without a downfield passing threat, and Bates has not shown that he can throw down the field. All the while our best asset, our ridiculous WR corps, is completely under-utilized.

This team was never that good this year.  we won games we should have, but did not distinguish ourselves.  We need to improve before we start talking making a run.  Will be good to get some key defenders back.

On play #2 Bates did show he can throw it down field...just not to OUr team.

Our next year's sched has to be one of the easiest in college football history.  If we don't win most of those by over 30 points, we still stink.

8 or 9 wins might not be enough next year to earn the right to get embarrassed in a bowl. We only went this year because usc is on probation and there was an asu scheduling snafu.

Anybody wanna give me points with Rutgers and Marshall?

I said it earlier, we have the talent to win in the MAC but not against CUSA or low level BCS teams.  I consider Marshall and Rutgers in the latter category.

When all is said and done, we'll got 2-2 OOC qnd 6-2 or 5-3 in Conference to be Bowl eligible again.

Is that all there is?

Yes, that should be right, and most likely the West games will be at Central Michigan and vs. Western Michigan.

Interesting that at best we will play 4 opponents that had winning records this year.
If we can't increase our win total to 9-10 next year with this schedule then we have some real issues.

It's from a 2009 press release announcing the nonconference schedule through '15 (http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/03020...; Haven't seen any changes since then.

Interesting choice on western and central for next year's west opponents. I had figured central on the road and ball state here. Everyone else in the west has been played at least twice since 2006. Central once here in 08 and ball state away in 09.

We played Toledo and Eastern Michigan this year and Northern Illinois and Ball State last year, so that basically leaves Central and Western next in the rotation.

Good job.

I think a few names may need to be added.....although you did mention Tyler Tettleton it's been mentioned to me that he was the best of the scout QB's last year. Also Derek Roback came here to play QB, but at about 6'3"-230 with good speed he's too good of an athlete to sit on the bench.

RB wise another player who transfered so that he could get more pt is Beau Blankenship from Iowa State.

Very well written Will!

Completely agree with your take on QB (Snyder / Bates rotation) but would not be surpprised to see Tyler win it either...He seems like a great mix of both.

I'm hoping we see more of Boykin than we did in 2010.  It's obviously nice to have the depth but I hate to see him wasting away on the sidelines...He's a serious force.  Also hoping to see a FB in this year's recruiting class.

Agree again on the O Line...They should roll next year.  I also hope we see more of Thompson down field!

Do you happen to have any insight into the status of N'goumou?  I was kind of hoping he'd step up eventually and maybe take over slot if Riley does end up moving outside or become the new fade target.  Either way this unit will be stout yet again...I'm excited to see Brazill and Foster on the field at the same time.

Also a little light on what's in store for Roback would be huge if you have any??
