On page two of the first section of today's Dispatch is the best billboard ever.  I can't find it online so I'll describe it.  Maybe someone can find it and post it or drive by and take a photo.

CONGRATULATIONS TO
TCU
For their BCS Rose Bowl Victory
- Little Sisters of the Poor

The caption says that TCU alums put these up in a number of locations in Columbus.  The one in the picture in the paper is at the corner of Grandview Avenue and Dublin Road.

No kidding here:  I wish Dr. McD could come up with something to get OU covered by every major media outlet in this country while everyone is watching.

Gee is an evil genius.

You'd like our President to act like a pretentious, entitled, ill-informed mudslinger and then have his complete lack of understanding on the subject matter broadcast to the Nation?  Sorry...One public embarassment that nets national media coverage (Bobcat / Brutus fiasco) is enough for me thanks.

Public embarrassment?  Some of us thought it was pretty funny.  Nobody was injured . . . only the pride of The Brutus and his fellow travellers.  The University of Michigan even used it as a funny prop in a halftime skit.

How was Brutus' pride hurt? 1st he totally punked Rufus and made his head come off then he sucker punched him. I will give you, mildly amusing entertainment, but you are practicing revisionist history.

Can't argue the results were entertaining (especially for those of us that despise A&M)...What I meant by public embarrassment is that the fact that Ohio University clearly had no quality control over  an extremely public facing "ambassador" type of role.  The fact that that kid wasn't an enrolled student (leaving the University with zero power to control his actions) is absolutely a public embarrassment and it only adds to the already rampant "party school" reputation.

B36, I will agree that the fact he wasn't a currently enrolled student was embarrassing.  But, I'm not sure that that fact was that salient with the average joe six pack football fan.

I agree OCF, every time that ESPN ran that story on their national nightly news and pointed out that this idiot was not even a student, and they asked the question how that happens, it went right over peoples head!

Money pumped into the Ohio economy is a good thing for sure.

Still, the creators are missing Gee's point, right or wrong.

Everyone knows these teams can get up and play with anyone for one game. The question is: do they have the talent depth to play BCS conference bowl-caliber teams in subsequent weeks?

In one argument, we claim a playoff presents more fairness because teams get to play it on the field. This would require wins against elite teams in back-to-back-to-back weeks.

We rip on the one-game system, but then praise the teams who have only demonstrated the ability to rest for weeks and get up for one game.

I would rather my inevitable "off game" or two come against Sam Houston State than against Illinois or Georgia.

Final Strength of Schedule Rankings

Auburn 1
Oregon 2
Arkansas 3
Stanford 4
VA Tech 5
Alabama 6
Wisconsin 17 (Highest ranking for a Big Tenelve team)
Ohio A&M 18
Utah 22 (Highest Mountain West team)
TCU 26
Oklahoma 28
Michigan State 30
UConn 41
Penn State 51
Northwestern 60
Illinois 74
Texas 76
Purdue 77
Indiana 81

Answer...Yes...Some of them do have the talent.  The best part is more and more will every year...

Saying that any Big Tenelve team plays a murderers row schedule is a farce.  "The Big Ten went 3-5 this year in bowl games with a average margin of defeat at 20.4 points and average margin of victory at 10.6 points."  For the love of all that's Holy, a 3 loss SEC team beat a Big Tenelve Tri-Champ 49-7.

And do we really even need to discuss the merits of the Big East?

Gee was talking out of his arse just like Delany and a cast of other money grubbing BCS Conference talking heads do all the time.  No one misunderstood what they said and now they're paying the price for it in credibility.

Something that would be new to Ohio A&M as well...

36: just curious as to what your stats proved? OSU had the 18th toughest schedule, that just helps the GEE argument, OSU's schedule was in the top 1/5 percentile of all schools.

JC and OCF in the Old Cats home:

"Hey Wanny....remember when Rufus sucker punched Brutus?"

"Sure I do OCF....just because I wear depends doesn't mean I can't remember stuff.....but it was a sucker punch and that Meigs County reject got what he deserved."

"But.....positive or negative don't ya think it gave OUr university some deserved pub?"

"Come on OCF...that's the one single event that led us to drop D1 football....say who's that rollin up on his chair?"

"Hey guys....Rich Rod here for a visit....if you're talkin football I can tell you that Rufus tacklin Brutus was one of the few positives in my brief Wolverine career."

"Just shutup Rich.....anyone who jumps from Michigan to the Kent State DC job is a complete retard."

"Well ya got a point there Wanny...but OU never beat us in my 1 year stint."

"Yeah....we beat Can't every year after that since they hired Tim Albin as their O.C."

Doc.....Doc.....wake up......me thinks you were havin a bad dream during middle school lunch break......and who's Wanny and who's OCF?

Funny stuff, Doc.  Would you please share more of your dream life?  It's certainly more entertaining and enlightening than half the other stuff on this board.  Now, JCW, can tell us which half.

JCW,

I can't see where coming out 8 slots (out of 120) ahead of TCU equates to playing "Murderer's Row" as opposed to "The Sisters of the Poor".  If that were the case he should be saying the same thing about 4/5's of his own conference.

The fact is that these days, competitive Non AQ schools play serious OOC schedules in order to compensate for at least a portion of their conference schedules while the majority of the upper tier BCS schools actually do schedule The Sisters of the Poor in OOC.  Combine that with conference play that's no where near as demanding as what Gee and Delaney delusionally believe, and you end up with a TCU team that absolutely deserved a BCS bid and beat the true Big Tenelve Champ with equal rest.
