First major college football team to go from double digit losing season to double digit winning season.  MAC finishes bowl season at 2-2.  Except for the worst final two minutes of coaching in recent history at the end of the LCPB by UT it would be 3-1.
.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY LOST THIS YEAR TO

THE OHIO BOBCATS!

=====================================================

Interesting piece of trivia: The two MAC teams that won bowl games were coached by interim coaches.

I've said this before...I don't like Miami but I do respect them.  They have done what we are still wishing for: win the East division, win the MAC Championship and win a Bowl game.  Just a respectful congratulations to them.  Maybe next year for OUr team.

If a Miami wins a football game, but no one is around to see it, does it still suck?

Dysert could have his hands full if he wants to start next season -- Boucher recalls LeFevour to me at times, particularly his ability to feel pressure and avoid it while still delivering the ball.

i wouldn't be putting a picture with a caption like that on any blog.  After all, they only had half as many empty seats as we did in the Dome and they won whereas we had it handed to us...

A salute to Miami's interim coach and his staff.  They outcoached Stockstill and his staff.

I would have expected to see more blue than red in the stands.

MTSU's showing looks just as bad as Fiami's.

I agree Dysert will have his hands full next season. Full of a clipboard, a pencil to chart plays, maybe a jacket for Boucher in cold weather games.
Miami's non-conference games in 2011 are at Missouri, at Minnesota, at home for UC and Army. If we both start out decent that game should pack Peden.

Let's just say neither game was played in front of a full house.  You seriously have to wonder how these kinds of games make any money for anybody.  I guess GoDaddy and R&L Carriers figure they get a lot of advertising???

Congrats to Miami, they certainly showed up and played their last 3 games of the year. No smart _ss comments from this corner, only a respectful congrats to them, especially their bowl win without their head coach and the uncertainty hanging over the heads of the remainder of the Miami coaching staff as to where their next jobs will be.

Did anyone see the pregame speach by Fiami's interim coach?  He got them fired up.  They were ready to play.  When we get to a big game, we act like it's a scrimmage.

Troy beat Middle TN State 42-13.  MTSU won only five games vs. FBS teams two of which were 1pt wins vs the likes of WKU.   Troy was a much better team and five straight years of winning the Sun Belt.  Imagine if we had won the East, MAC Title and then rewarded with a bowl game vs. a 6-6 Sun Belt directional  team.  There would be the same old same old negative threads disrespecting the GMAC Bowl game.

This league needs a consistent year after year winner.  I think Ohio has the best chance to make that happen at this time.  Next year should be our third straight year with at least eight wins.  Hopefully next year we wont need that Miami ball bounce luck to win it all and get a decent Bowl win as a ranked team.  The momentum is still with the Cats.  Miami will be good next year...but they are starting over and will lose their sixth straight season to the Cats.

Fiami has a decent new head coach.  Since we play them here next year I really like our chances. We just need to beat Kent State to get that frikkin monkey off our back.

I don't know, but that photo in the initial post could have been late in the game.  Normally, the city of Mobile supports this game and has quite a few locals in the stands.  I would like to see a photo like this during the first quarter.

I remember when we were down there, the crowd of locals dwindled a lot as the game progressed and Southern Miss got further ahead.  Game started with stadium very full.

Do I need to get the Goat out and take him for a lap around the outside of Peden Stadium to break the Kent St. curse?

As far as Fiami goes, all i know is,  there will be 5 Red-Chickens on the Cooker at next years Tailgate and I'm sure Ted can tell you how many days its been since Fiami has beat Ohio in Football.
