To the OHIO football team,
After a travel-induced delay, it is time to post the final team units post of the
season and needless to say, I wish I could do it in response to the team
posting a better result. To end the season this way was really unfortunate
and shows that we still have a way to go as a program and are going to
really put the work in if we want to come back and win a bowl game next year.
All that can be done is learn as much as you can from this experience and turn
it into something positive next season. This season featured 1 win against a
FCS school in Wofford followed by 7 wins sandwiched between two 3 game
losing streaks, next year let's be ready to start strong and finish strong.
To the Offense, evidently there was a gameplan that Solich was going to stick
to, that did not pan out. Troy effectively grounded our running game with their
defensive line pressure, forcing the team to go to the air to score all of their
touchdown passes. You showed promise early by tying it up, but after that Troy
really took control and by the time you got some more points on the board, in the
second quarter, Troy had the game well in hand. However, I think that the O-line
can hold their heads high this year for really responding to all of the injuries to
come out and really play some football which got us to this game in the first place.
Also, not getting a running game going limited us, but you did keep playing to the
end and did not give up. For your efforts, the Green & White Challenge donors
award you with the following donations.

To the Defense, unfortunately the Troy offense proved very difficult to contain. One
stat that stands out is how there was only one tackle for a loss as the Trojans
rattled off score after score on consecutive drives. Another area that stands out
is the lack of sacks, which makes it look like applying QB pressure is going to
have to be something to work on in the off-season. Also, there were no turnovers
which was another nail in the coffin. But, it sounds like there were some players
really playing hard out there so thanks for your efforts and thanks to everyone on
the defense for the great performances that you gave us during this season.

To Special Teams, our punting team continued to be reliable as Hershey punted
a 42.2 yard average with a long of 49 yards. Another stat that really stands out is
Donte's 161 yards on 8 kick return attempts. We look forward to seeing Harden back
again returning kicks and running the ball next year. For your efforts, we award you

To the OHIO football team,
First of all, congratulations on a great season and literally
turning something out of nothing. You were a fallen down
receiver away from getting 9 wins and went on a 7 game
win streak of over 30 or more points a game. Naturally,
things did not end the way that the anyone would have
liked, but now with a bowl in a great location against a
quality opponent, you have the opportunity to show us
what "We O U." means. We know you have another win
left in you! Let's win our first bowl game already!
To the Offense, for the second year in a row it was tough
going against the Kent State D. And their 7 sacks and
4 turnovers are a testament to that. The stats don't lie. This
was your worst result on the season. But, if a bitter loss doesn't
put a fire in you to go out and grab success the next time
around, well, let's face it, you just aren't living. So go out there
and show us what you are about against Troy.

To the Defense, you had a decent amount of TFL yards and did get a sack,
but Kent got 7 plus 4 turnovers compared to us coming up empty which
naturally isn't going to get you many wins especially with how the Offense
was playing. Time to bounce back and get some turnovers against the
Trojans and show us that good QB pressure you got against Miami that
completely disrupted their O this season. That could be precisely what we
need against their passing attack. Good luck!

To Special Teams, aside from the one blocked kick, you were just about
the only bright spot on the outing against Kent. Weller did very well to hit
a long 51 yarder and Carrie and Donte where once again solid on punt
and kick returns respectively with Carrie getting 40 yards with a long of 34
and Done getting 63 yards with a long of 28. But, perhaps the best play on
the day next to Weller's long kick, was Hershey's booming 61 yard punt.
You just get punt it any better than that at a critical point in the game no less.

for all team units all around this year. Looking forward to seeing you build on this momentum in 2011!
