Finally we get some stuff about spring ball from the coaching staff.
Why is Bates not practicing? Big question mark here.
I have that strange feeling that he will not be starting IN 2011.
Did I also see that Tyler added a few lbs? All good.

The Post today confirmed what others have said on here, Bates is recovering from right shoulder surgery. Solich said Bates might take some snaps this last week of Spring Practice.

Don't expect to See Bates do much this Spring  - shoulder surgery can be a long rehab and probably better to give him the extra time to heal.  He played hurt most of last year and if anyone has played with a shoulder they know it hurts every play.  We still probably don't know what he can do when he is completely healthy.  He hurt his hand in the opener early.  He played through that then did the shoulder.  Might be a nice surprise come fall ball with a healthy Bates.

Nice to read in the Day 10 release about OL Matt Pritchard walking on and already getting some sets with the first unit.  6' 0" and 279lbs wearing number 55 this spring.

"Well Matt walked on from the wrestling team, so he's a strong kid. He's a 500 lb. bench presser and although he doesn't have great height, necessarily, he's got great toughness. He's done some real nice things so far and it's been a pleasant surprise. I think once we get Skyler [Allen] back and between Matt and J.D. Bales we'll be solid."

"Pritchard just came in this spring and he's already taking some number one reps"

Bet he'll be able to open a few holes and being a wrestler you just know he's tough as nails and that toughness will be an influence to the others.

Doc any research of if and where Matt played in HS?

From his Signing Bio from the wrestling sight on ohiobobcats.com.

Matt Pritchard posted a 123-34 record as a heavyweight at Clayton Northmont High School in Dayton, Ohio. He took fifth place in the state meet as a senior and eighth place as a junior. He was a special mention at heavyweight by Wrestling USA Magazine. He will remain at heavyweight for the Bobcats.
