Pathetic to have a bowl streamed on a cartoon platform. Is Trump going to give a halftime speech?
What does this even mean? Why are you so butthurt?

Looks like we'll be on the west sideline (sections 17-25). Just bought tickets in section 21 right at the 50 for $24 each

I’m all likelihood, this game will get more viewers and Barstool will actually put some marketing into it that wouldn’t happen otherwise. You can literally watch it on anything with a browser for free, and people like Big Cat at Barstool actually pay attention to the MAC. Not mad at this at all.

Ohio will be the visiting team.

Tickets from the bowl site can be brought here https://seatgeek.com/barstool-sports-arizona-bowl-2022-oh...

Information on how to purchase tickets in the Ohio Bobcats block will be released later this week. Stay up to date on OhioBobcats.com or by following the team on Facebook and Twitter (@OhioFootball).

Why do I have to watch our bowl game sitting on a bar stool?

We don't even have bar stools at my assisted living community!

A couple of points about this bowl game. The main objective is to sell your program to as many fans and prospective players as possible. If few people watch, well we might have a problem. One can laugh at boomers, but the fact of the matter is they have a higher demographic for watching sports that younger people. I am not really sure we want to know how few people will watch this game. We had a great season, it would have been nice for the fans of the program and prospective recruits to have the opportunity to watch this bowl game like any other. Sadly, that's not the case.

This almost as ugly a setup as Marshall had in C-USA when you had watch some of their games on Facebook. Those were some awful webcasts!

What a whiny bunch of boomers.
I'm not against streaming TV, but it would be nice if we knew (1) how to access the feed and (2) how much it costs. None of that info is available. Plus, it looks like the broadcast will be little more than an ego trip for "Big Cat." He was supposed to be on the broadcast team last year and probably will be this year. Given that his announcement looked like something out of World Wide Wrestling, I have doubts about the quality of the broadcast production.
Well, sorry you’d rather pay $189 per month for the pageantry of ESPNU and CBS Sports Network. Just add the Barstool channel/app to your Roku or Firestick and voila.
I don't know where you buy TV but I pay less than half that for regular programming and stream our games for $9 a month on the ESPN app. They at least have professional announcers and a professional production team. I've never seen these guys from Barstool, so I'm a bit skeptical about their abilities. Why are you so bent out of shape over my concerns with Barstool?

Wyoming may put 8 in the box like Toledo did.

If so we will need some kind of passing attack.

Barstool seems to be a shoddy outfit. They don't have any info on accessing it or the cost.
It’s streamed for free - on the internet, old sport.

“Nothings free, young whippersnapper!” You yell back shaking your fist.

It will be shown on a website. Just like how you got to BA.com.

Barstool.tv

The WWE style announcement on Twitter has - 200K views.
@BarstoolSports: 5.5K likes on Instagram
@BarstoolBigCat: 9K likes (by comparison, @OhioFB: 2K likes)

BocaRaton instagram: They set their likes to private, because it got less than 50. Fifty. 5-0.

The announcement from the Boca Raton Bowl for Toledo: 137 likes.

Like I said in October, this is a GOOD thing. They’re already getting more eyes on Ohio Football than would’ve seen them otherwise. It’s not close. I don’t particularly like Dave, but their marketing prowess and reach can’t be denied. This is the future. Happy to be 1/1 in their world - vs 1/30 for ESPN.

I want to wait until I see the ratings before I crown this bowl a winner. Not sure we will even see the ratings? Does Barstool have to release those numbers?

While its 100% true that we will get more exposure ONLINE, I'm not sure this will translate to viewership of the actual event.

I don't see Ohio University as a hugely attractive program to the younger audience that Barstool tries to engage with. So this could ultimately backfire by cutting out a lot of old school viewers that make up Ohio's fanbase that just want to flip on ESPN2.

While streaming isn't that difficult to figure out, I guarantee folks won't even try to figure it out and will watch something else or just listen to Russ.

Personally, I don't really want to have to stream our bowl game. Do streaming devices even carry the Barstool app? If not then you will have to watch the game on a portable device and connect that device to a monitor in order to replicate the standard television broadcast.

A beautiful college town with a main street full of bars? Yeah, what young person wants to hear about that?

The @barstooloh instagram account (a Barstool affiliate account focused just on Athens) has 45k followers. That's more than the official Ohio Bobcats (15.4k) and Ohio Football (12.8k) accounts combined. Plus another 11.1k followers on @ohiouchicks (another Barstool affiliate account).

The Barstool app is available on Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire and Roku. It's 2022. There are more options to watch this than any ESPN bowl.

To add onto this, Big Cat has been a vocal proponent of mid-week MACtion for a while now online. When he posts about it, his audience engages with it on social media too. This is infinitely better than the dollar general bowl or something like that. If we can put on a good showing and be entertaining, there will probably be some people who turn on our games next season when they see us on the tv guide because of it.

Nearly as many people watched the Bowl ANNOUNCEMENT (185K) on Barstool’s Twitter account as watched every OU game on ESPN this year. (225-250K)

It’s 2022.

People are looking for positives to the second and third tier bowls, well, you are looking at it.

OHIO has already gotten millions of dollars in publicity from one of the most popular social media companies on the planet. And it will continue. They’re competing for eyes with some major teams right now, and they’re more than keeping up. Barstool is the KEY Ohio University demo for both athletes and students. They have the 8th most listened to podcast in the world right now. I’m sorry to the Athens historical society members that fear they cannot just flip it over to ESPNU on Tuesday at 2 PM, but millions of eyes are already on our great University that wouldn’t have already seen it.

Hopefully the Athletic Department and AD are of the same mindset as you
are when it comes to the value of being on Barstool.

Then, maybe, they open up the purse strings and send the full 110 to the Bowl Game.

Meanwhile, the ESPN and ESPN College Football twitter and instagram accounts make ZERO mention of any bowl games outside the NY6.

I don't have the numbers, but it's safe to assume that we've received more digital impressions in the past 24 hours than any team outside those 12 in the NY6 bowls.

I'm not sure I'm following you. Where have you seen the numbers on the publicity we've gotten from Barstool Sports?

Also, if Barstool is capable of generating that much revenue for this game, why is the payout only $350k? The lowest payout I'm seeing other than this bowl is the Bahamas Bowl at $225k.

BGSU is playing for $2 mill, FWIW.

$350,000 total payout and live streamed on an app on your mobile device. Now all we need is for 1,000 or less people to show up at the stadium for the game. With a total payout of $350,000 and it is unclear if the two participating schools have to split that, it will not cover the expense of getting the team and staff to the game and their expenses while in Tucson. Yes other bowls do have pep rallies but unless donors want to pony up the $$$ for the 110 to make the trip, I doubt if the University does that. Hence the final straw will be a pep rally/battle of the bands with zilch from Ohio. Very impressive all around. And as someone else has already stated, I too will probably tune in Russ and Rob's broadcast on the radio or just do something else that afternoon.

No cable here - Roku device and YoutubeTV with Netflix, Prime, HBO+, and Disney+ thrown in/shared. Downloaded the BAR app today and saw the announcement of the OU game.

All of that said, like the vast majority of the 42% of homes that still have cable and folks like me, if OU wasn't in this game I would have never heard of Barstool TV much less watched it.

And for what it's worth, students are coming to OU because they saw us in some third rate bowl at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon the day before New Year's Eve.
