Steele's preview has Phil Bates listed as a potential WR or RB when he comes back from injury. Any of you attackers out there have proof to this little rumor? I personally think that's a great idea. Bates running ability can not go unused.

BattleCat has repeatedly stated that Bates runs with the football too upright to be used as a fulltime RB.

Quite possibly the one thing I agree with w/b/wh.

Hard to evaluate a QB moving down the line with  a possible pitch to make, pass to throw.  He will be more upright compared to the RB.  Bates will play, would not bother me to see him at any position, including QB.

Yes, I can confirm that with a definitive "maybe."  Bates will be given a chance at QB in fall camp.  If he hasn't improved his passing game, he will either be used at another position or he will be shuttled in at QB in "wildcat" situations.  A lot of this depends on his attitude and how much of a team player he proves to be.  In my mind the jury is still on that question.

Upright, shmupright. He ALMOST led the team in rushing as QB in a part time role last year, and had the best YPC average (If you dont count our punter Paul Hershey's 12.0, or Steven Goulet's reverses that is...). Tell that upright comment to Eric Dickerson or Adrian Peterson.

Shiftiness, ability to dance, slightly to one side or the other, while not losing speed? Speed while cutting?  Or have we only seen straight line speed?
