First off let me say Coach Solich and his staff are excellent..they give these guys every opportunity to suceed. Many players that I know continue to say that Ohio University is the best place they could have possibly come to achieve their college education and play football. With that said. Last nite I am assuming there was another victim of an ill upbring or possibly mental and behavior problems. This one really hurts the individual and Ohio Football team as it was Kyle Kozack Def End...a position that is already THIN. I cannot grasp  how this guy thought it would be cool to assault not one..but 4-5 human beings at one bar. If this was a case of a simple fight or a melee amongst young men okay everyone can deal with that  but apparently this guy beat the snot out of another bar patron and when the owner of the bar and his wife stepped in to stop the beating he was giving this guy..they got a brick and kicks to the head...I have not seen the official charges but when your peers are saying it was  "ugly" "attempted murder" "curb stomped"...things dont look good for this guy. I'm sure if this was not summer it would be all over the front paqe of 'the post. What a waste because everyone was saying this guy is a monster..he will have double digits sacks...I hope the incoming freshmen have learned from this as they all are shocked by the recent arrest..

Backing Kozak  up will probaly be freshman Andrew Bennett...when you see this guy he is huge..tall and long 6'7 with cleats..so hopefully he can grasp the defense and  produce early

Sad......thought Kozak was the most impressive of the newcomers at the spring game.  Many posters hate seeing true freshman play and covet redshirts (which is good)...but Frank's move to secure a plethora of D lineman looks like a good move now.

Sad.  I will not comment as I have no verified or factual information to add.

I am one of the most ardent supporters of red shirtiing true freshmen.  However, if they are good enough to make the two deep and are in a playing rotation they should play.  This should  be rare as by now the roster seniors and juniors should be able to play above most any true freshmen.

As of now, it looks like Kozak has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault.

So if that is what he ends up being convicted of, what kind of penalty can we expect?

If there's one major reason football will never be my favorite sport, it's gotta be the meathead factor.

In Ohio I believe he could get up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine on each count.

That's right, basketball players never get into bar fights, do they?

If the facts are as stated here, I would say this guy should be immediately kicked off the team, and Frank should make a public statement that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated on his football team.

Can't these guys resist the temptation to do something stupid? Especially now, it's summer! The bars are dead compared to the school year.

We just can't continue to tolerate this type of behavior.

Funny, our record setting QB is involved in two bar altercations last year and the vast majority run to defend him and blame others. This young man gets into an altercation and not one person defending him and several want to eliminate the young man.

Anyone know the bar?  I want to make sure I add it to my list of bars to boycott.

Let me explain this to you:

1.) Boo (according to everything I've seen) never threw a punch at any of those incidents. He was certainly guilty of poor judgment though.

2.) The bouncer that hit Boo is a well known local a-hole with a reputation for assaulting other football players like Eric Benjamin.

3.) Boo was well known to the community and most of us have met him and found him quite pleasant.

Ok, now on to this incident.

1.) Based on my own anecdotal experience, the rumors on this board are usually quite accurate. The Boo incident was posted here minutes after it occurred. Athens is small so news travels fast.

2.) The violence described sounds pretty bad, far beyond what we are used to. Curb stomping people is quite different than being on the receiving end of a punch in the face.

3.) No one knows this kid. Most likely no one will have personal experience with him that would counteract the accusations.

That's why the reaction to these two incidents might be different.

Innocent until proven guilty. If I was Coach Solich, I would have this man in my office, and ask the simple question, What Happened? If he did it, then we have a big situation on our hands that may require more than simple kicking him off the, either way I trust Coach Solich's decision on the matter and believe he will put the University before the team.

As I said a double standard, one was a player proven on the field, one unknown young man, let's defend the guy we "know" and bash the poor kid we don't. Let it play out and see what happens, before we go throwing anyone under the bus.

Which bar?

Mr. Kozak should be dismissed from the team and the university.

The word on this guy from his own teamates is that he is a HOT HEAD..NUTS..CRAZY..DAMN GOOD DEF END WITH NFL POTENTIAL. Apparently this is not his first run in with the legal system either. None of that bodes well for him remaining at OU. And when people that saw the "altercations" say that he was beating the high hell out of one person who was on the ground..and he proceeded to beat the hell out of the Bar owner and his wife who intervened..even a brick was utilized to some effect. No one is throwing this guy under the BUS..looks to me this is not a case of mistaken identity as it wasnt him throwing, punching and slapping people he was actually handing out candy at the bar. He laid down under the back wheels of this BUS and took a nice long nap on gameday folks. Its thugs like this that give athletes a bad name..its is summer..how do you get into any altercation in athens over the summer...wow

Yes, knowing the kid provided him more "benefit of the doubt" - however, the order of the points made was, I am sure, intentional.  But you keep editing things in your own world.

Why are we letting rumors invade this board? Not one documented evidence of this.

Kozak has been charged with three counts of assault. That much is documented. It also is one very major difference between this incident and the one involving Boo.

And if those charges are dropped or reduced to a disorderly? All I am saying is that some went running for blood. In Boo's second incident we knew very little and when one poster tried to bring it to light, he got drilled! Just let the case play out then we shall see. Frank will do the right thing.

I agree with that. Just because he's been charged doesn't mean we know all the facts to pass judgment. And I do think the program and the school will punish appropriately once they have all fo the facts.

According to today's Messenger, this guy also had a bag of pot on him when he was arrested.  He also had some pills but the report said he had a prescription for those.  This was all in the police logs not a sports section story.
