Ted has a whole page that he works hard to keep updated on recruits, which you can find under "FOOTBALL-RECRUITING". His information on Ohio offers, acceptances, etc, is always better than any of the major recruiting services. Ted does not get nearly the appreciation that he deserves for all the hard work he does in this area. That said, every year Temple seems to get a lot of early verbals, much earlier than Ohio. The last couple years Ohio has started getting a few verbals during the summer, and this year Ohio already has one good one. Even then it seems like it is usually Oct-November before the recruiting class starts filling up. Ohio always manages to have a decent class when it's all done, and I'm sure they will this year, too.

Another difference in Temple's recruiting has been that their recruiting classes always seem to be quite a bit larger than Ohio's, indicating significant turnover. In the last 5 recruiting classs (2007-2011) Ohio has given 103 scholarships, or 20.6 a year. Meanwhile Temple has give 129 verbals, or nearly 26 a year. Note that of the 129 verbals, only 85 can be on scholarship, so something like 1/3 of Temple players from the last 5 years no longer have their scholarship for one reason or another. They may have completed their eligibility, had to quit due to injuries, been no-shows, or perhaps they transferred for one reason or another.

Basically what he's saying it that Temple is taking a lot of academically marginal players who don't end up qualifying, and have to go to prep school. Ohio has recruited a few of those, but they try to use the bulk of the class on players who will do well academically, and as a result Ohio is near the top of the MAC in APR, while Temple is second from the bottom. Temple's APR is rising, but has a ways to go.

Of the 129 Verbals that Temple has received in the last 5 years, how many of those are currently on scholarship? Since it has to be under 85, please explain what happened to the other 44. The answer is some combination of the following:
1. Used eligibilty - perhaps 3-4 players used their 4 years of eligibility in 4 years
2. Had to quit due to injuries - another 3-4 players may have left the program due to injury
3. Some players may have failed to gain admission
4. Some players may have transferred, for which there could be several reasons
a. Transferred for disciplinary reasons
b. Transferred for grade related reasons
c. Players may lose scholarships for non-performance
d. Players may leave for personal reasons

If there are any other possible reasons, I am not aware of them. You claim that despite having only 2/3 of the people who verbally accepted still on scholarship there is not turnover. You claim that they are "stockpiling them in prep schools", which is another way of saying that many failed to qualify academically, yet they are not offering marginal students. The burden here is on you, not on me, because you have failed to provide even a plausible answer. If you want to be taken seriously, then please explain what happened to the other 44.If you'd like, I can provide a similar list of what happened to the Ohio verbals that are no longer on scholarship, which breaks out as three or four in each of numbers 1-4 above.

Are we talking about verbals here?  Why?  Verbals are non-binding, just because I verbal to school A has NO bearing on where I actually sign my LOI, as I am still free to sign an LOI with any school that would have me.  Now if we are talking about 129 LOI's signed that is then a problem.  However all I read is "verbal"  not signed.

My error, sorry. Yes, I am talking about signed letters of intent. That isn't a problem in the sense that it is a violation of NCAA rules, because not everyone that signs a letter of intent actually qualifies and enrolls, but it is a problem in the sense that it creates a question of how they stay under the limit of 85 scholarships, and what became of the others.

If most of those 44 players were players that didn't academically qualify, I believe you've made my point. Thank you.

Our recruiting philosophy is to get players who win games. You can keep talking about how awesome your recruits are, 55. After all, that's all you have. For years, all you've had is talk. And make no mistake, I remember quite well the talking you've been doing these last few years. It's always the same. You keep hooting about these amazing recruits and some draft picks. But at the end of the day, Temple is a loser team. Nothing you say can change that.

Keep talking and walking, chump.

Or winning the MAC. Or coming close to winning the MAC. Or making a championship game. But it has helped them lead the conference in obnoxious, delusional, brain-damaged fans.

According to Official MAC records, "]["emple and Ohio have each won the East Division the same number of times since "]["emple joined the MAC...once. We were Co-Champions and Ohio represented the East based on a tie breaker.
 
The better team has won each of the 4 times we have faced, with Ohio winning 3.

There isn't a College Message Board in the MAC let alone NCAA FB which is more jealous of "]["emple's press than this board. This board actually talks more about "]["emple than "]["emple's Scout.com site. 

I occassionally interject for my own amusement and always when information is grossly distorted or mis represented regarding The  "]["emple Football Owls, as was the case with this thread.

btw, I just passed through Athens and Meigs Co last week. I was very amused to see the Temple Cemetary just south of campus. I declare that's, I said that's where the '11 Bobcats will be laid to rest. 

I have yet to meet a person who uses the phrase "Get a Life." have one that I would trade a week of mine for a year of theirs. Seriously, I have not. Perhaps you are the first I would admire Bobcat 71, but I'm not sure, you seem to hang on my every word...

Personally I could care less about Temple, or their trolls. I posted on this thread simply to give some facts regarding the numbers of LOI that have been signed with Temple over the last five years, and made some reasonable conclusions. No one has refuted them by providing a detailed explanation of what happened to the 44+ players that signed those LOI's, but who are not currently on scholarship, and I don't care enough to bother with this any further. Other than that, the stuff on this thread is useless background noise.
