Hopefully, having a FCS foe next week, we will be able to get people healthy enough for Marshall.  The Keller and Jones injuries are potentially very bad.

Keller got hurt? I didn't see that. What type of injury? Does it look bad?

I saw him go out, but it he was under his own power and wasn't limping or holding a shoulder or anything.  I thought it might have been dehydration or something, but he didn't return and the D really didn't look the same. I thought that maybe they were holding him out because of the big lead.   Hope it isn't serious.

Arkley tweeted that it looked like he aggravated the hamstring, which sounds right given what he was doing (chasing down a receiver) and how he ran off the field.  I completely agree that the D wasn't the same after.  I guess the hope would be you hold him out for Gardner-Webb and he's ready to go for Marshall.  Keller and Carl Jones being healthy or not makes a huge difference in what kind of D the Bobcats can put on the field.

HOpefully Keller can return to normal practice routines - it couldn't have helped that he missed lots of time in camp while being protected. Need him 100% for Marshall.

I believe he came out after he committed a pass interference.  So if that shows up in the stats, (I don't pay that much attention to play by play stats) we will be able to know precisely when he left the game.

The offense performed better than I thought they might tonight.  Very few things to complain about there -- nice protection for the QBs; great numbers for Tettleton and Bates, for the limited time he was in; the no-huddle worked really well (77 plays and no busted plays); turnovers were minimal.

The defense was aggressive and held NMSU in until Keller and Jones went out.  Four sacks and a pick.

Special teams looked good except for the one kickoff return TD that they gave up.

Penalties hurt early; I think the six penalties were in the first 2 1/2 quarters.

They always say a team improves the most between weeks 1 and 2, but with Gardner-Webb coming up next week it may be impossible to judge unless the Cats slap a 70-0 pasting on them.  G-W is 1-0 with a resounding 34-17 win over Brevard College today.

Okay, we won.  But NMSU is pretty lousy.  Leading the bad is that I couldn't find a way to get my $400 down on a bet on the 'Cats.  Any time they are giving away money I try to take it.

Maybe we were holding back and/or playing a lot of guys to give them experience but:  way too may big plays and 3rd down conversions for NMSU...special teams coverage...anyone who could watch that game and not know who our starting running back should be (never tackled going backwards) cannot read the number 20...at their goal line, at about their 2.5 yard line and we line up in the shotgun with a 183 lb running back standing on the 10 yard line--are you serious?  At the goal line, put the big guy and another r.b. in--so we have beef and so they don't know who it's going to....Too many rollout passes--takes away 30-40% of the field for our receivers...our back up qb needs to have the ability to zip the ball in (can't  always float it).

Okay.  We won pretty big and were never really threatened after mid 2nd quarter.  But if we're as good as we hope, then it shoulda been better.

Is everyone forgetting the fact that where we played was a few thousand feet higher than here?  Couldn't that play a factor with our sloppy play in the second half?
