I kind of think it’s funny when we’re on here discussing Albin’s and Candle’s salaries being too high when LSU accidentally paid Kelly over 1 million more than they should have by the contract last year. It’s a whole different world out there with the big boys.

Alabama needs an OC and Tim Albin hasn't been extended yet.

Time to get on FlightAware and look for Athens-Tuscaloosa charters.

How do you know Albin has not been extended yet?

+1

Yep, lots of speculation on here, and even recommendations, but almost no actual facts related to what may actually be happening in the Round House on Richland.. This thread is BA at its finest.

TA to Alabama.

Kliff to Athens.

I'd sign up for that 99 days out 100.

As much national media attention as we get? Do you really think that news like that could break and media sources go hours, let alone days, without blanketing the nation with the story? /s

You beat me to it cc-cat. And to think some Bobcat fans don't want to give Coach Albin an extension! Just shaking my head and laughing.

Yep, some of the things said in this thread about not extending Albin border on the absurd. But, that's par for the course on BA.

For the record: Even bobcatsquared and your humble correspondent have our absurd moments every once in a while! ;-)

There is nothing earth shattering here. He had a year where Akron improved tremendously by the end of the year, and he landed a small, but decent quality recruiting class, better than average for Akron. In return they gave him a raise to the median for the MAC, which appears to be a raise from 500k to 540k, an 8% increase, which, by the way, is actually less than inflation for last year, plus they extended his contract a year. They didn't open their purses with a big raise, they just gave him a small increase and extension, essentially telling him that he has job security, and that, unless he's unhappy, he doesn't need to look around for another job.

[/sarc]
By contrast, Ohio didn't improve at all from early in the season to the end. Coach Albin and his staff haven't shown they can win any games in the MAC East. Their recruiting class was awful, barely in the top 4 of the MAC. They have no hope for a good year next year. They definitely do not deserve job security, and in fact, we'd like to encourage them to actively devote part of their time next year to looking around for some other school that will give them job security, especially the assistants. Not only do they not deserve a raise, they should see their salary effectively reduced via inflation.

Not only that Albin's been wearing the atrocious PAW sweatshirt at nearly every game. That should be grounds for immdiate dismissal!

IMO not very similar. Akron has been lousy for some time and a significant improvement should be rewarded to keep a coach that was VERY successful elsewhere(Oregon) and would be in HUGE demand if he wanted to step back and take another OC position at a major.

As noted it wasn't much of a raise or extension either. Thinking might be buy a small reward here so that he will continue to build the program and get out front of Kent who lost their coach in the off season.

To Ohio recruiting, I have a thread in mind that tells the story.

Or rather: Extend an invitation to Tim Albin to the local re-education camp!

During the Russ/Boals post game radio interview today against Central Michigan, Russ posed a question to Jeff. And started the question with the statement: "Tim Albin likes the name .obbies and phrase Roll .obbies, how about you Jeff?"

I guess branding isn't important to key personnel? Tell him his raise was spent on advertising setting the record straight that it is BOBCATS!

I rescind everything I said previously about extending his contract. He might as well have said that Miami doesn’t suck and that red is his favorite color.

[Warning: I’ve been known to make sarcastic posts before, but some folks like bobcatsquare have trouble identifying it.]
